Monday saw me visiting another bunch of dead Victorians - or perhaps more accurately dead Georgians who made it into Victoria's reign and some additional Victorians - at Kensal Green Cemetery, more on that below the cut complete with photos; and before you ask, that is the end of my morbid cemetery exploration during this particular London trip ( Read more... )

It was lovely to see you again ♥ Pity about Tate Modern but a combination of half term and London Fashion Week made it impossible!

I see what you mean about Wilkie Collins's grave compared to Thackeray! Obviously these days we prefer sensation novels.

The pelicans are adorable, though I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of one with those beaks.

Hope the rest of your trip is terrific (and dry).

There's a famous (genuine) video showing one of the St James's Park pelicans eating a pigeon that got too close. Anything that keeps the flying rats down is fine by me...

And me! There's a reason "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park" is one of my favourite Tom Lehrer songs :)

I don't think Britain does "dry" at the moment, but I'm happy to settle for intermittently sunny. :) It was great seeing you, too.

Forgive my nosiness but your posts been truly fascinating and very educational! I'm not one who visits cemetaries but from what you've posted so far, these are also very educational and have so much history to them; plus it falls into my own interest in Theatre. Thank you for posting such wonderful information! I hope your vacation is restful (and I hope you have much more wonderful info to post too :D)

Well, I've put up another post this morning. Incidentally, for non-cemetary photos and reports of London and other parts of Great Britain in past years, try the "England" tag at my journal, or the "travel" one, if you want to read accounts of other countries.
