Fanfic recs
It's been over a week now, and despite my, err, reaction to the finale, I find I very much miss Being Human. Fortunately, there is some fanfiction. As it's impossible to describe without spoiling for the fifth season, I'll hide the links for three stories under the cut

David/Keith to this day remains one of my favourite couples and one of my gold standards for long term relationships displayed on tv. I mean, SFU breaks the "draw the UST out as long as possible, end after they got together because then they're boring" rule for its main couples anyway (Brenda and Nate have sex the first time they meet at the start of the show, David and Keith are already together in the pilot), but the ups and downs of making a life together are really a big theme for David and Keith. And each gets their turn of being supportive of the other. (David in s2, for example, when he's not even the official boyfriend much of the time but helps with Taylor and Keith's depression about shooting a man and later about losing his job as a cop, Keith as you say in the second half of s4 when David deals with the aftermath of what happened to him.) Neither of them can be the solution to every problem the other has - which I think is one of the big false sales in much of romantic fiction, the whole "if X only gets together with Y, then it will be perfect happiness from this point onwards, never mind that both X and Y have issues galore" - but they both can help each other through life with all their flaws (and virtues, of course!), which for me is true romance.
