Oh, Rumple. Rumple, you bad, sad man. *wibble* You've really just captured him so wonderfully here, all the manipuativeness and the self-delusion and the self-loathing (and the tendency to shift said self-loathing off onto other people) and the deeply messed-up but real capacity for love, and all of it.

You know, it had certainly crossed my mind that he might very well want to try to see to it that Cora fulfills that deal they made, anyway, but I didn't really get very far with that thought; for all his faults and evil deeds, he doesn't exactly strike me as a rapist. (We can leave that particular atrocity to Regina.) But, of course, what he does here is exactly what he would do, and that is exactly how it would play out, and I hereby adopt that particular scene as my personal headcanon from here on out. :)

(Also, an amusing thought I can't quite seem to get out of my head at the moment: a year ago, the idea that "Rumplestiltskin's love life" would ever, ever be on the list of things that I am interested in would have elicited a

Well, since we talked about the necessity for non-fluffified fanfiction featuring said lovelife, I decided to apply the do it yourself principle. Also that episode gave me two story ideas, one Cora and one Rumple centric, and I thought, to hell with real life, I'll write both. :) To which our discussions helped me to no end, so I'm really glad you approve of the result!

And part of the reason why I approve of the result so much is because it addresses a lot of stuff I was thinking about and talking about, I suppose. Which is wonderful for me! In any case, I am delighted to be of service. :)

Came via astrogirl2's rec. This is really a fascinating character study of Rumplestiltskin and the women in his life. I never realized all the parallels, even through the generations, of Rumple's relationships.

What a tragic wonderful story.
