We now have a trailer for the Joss Whedon directed Much Ado About Nothing, aka the way he relaxed after directing The Avengers (by producing Shakespeare at his house with his favourite actors). I may have been squeeing at the sight of Alexis Denisof & Amy Acker as Benedict & Beatrice, but Agent Coulson as Hero's dad Leonato was also nice to re- ( Read more... )

Yes! This is as bad as wanting to see Tennant and Tate - and knowing I never could. Except I can download that version now :) So, too, eventually, shall I be able to download Denisof and Acker. But I'd love to see it on the big screen. The cinematography is gorgeous! And Joss Whedon has a very nice house :)

I still feel that there is something missing in Alexis Denisof as Benedick. I suspect it is in his faith in himself. [This is not a criticism of his acting ability, for example I think he would be perfectly cast as Count Orsino in Twelfth Night, just his casting as Benedick (which admittedly is my second favourite character in my favourite Shakespeare play).]

Then again I am not sure about Amy Acker as Beatrice either, but she is not seen enough in the trailer to maintain whether or not my initial reservations were valid, although I could actually see her in the role, unlike Alexis as Benedick. [Then again, it was the idea of Amy as Viola that led to thinking of Alexis as Orsino.]

Still, will be quite willing to see it and how it actually turns out. Just hope I get the chance, it being Australia and all (whose film distributors are not known for their appreciation of quality independent cinema (Cabin in the Woods was only going to show in one session in one city; mirrormask wasn't going to show at all).
