Day 03 - Your favorite new show (aired this TV season)

Okay, I'm taking that to mean "show not only new to me but so new it hasn't even finished its first season yet and is in fact currently airing". I'm enjoying this meme, and looking forward to more favourites and recommendations.

Speaking of television, the BBC has announced various new dramas, including a) Atlantis, which will take the Merlin slot, with the same production team and Howard Overman as creator/writer and b) a Burton and Taylor drama starring Dominic West and Helena Bonham Carter. I thought this might be relevant to your interests.

It is, very much so. I hear the thing with Lindsay Lohan was dreadful, but Helena Bonham Carter, if she gets roles outside the young ingenue of her youth and the crazy gothic lady of her maturity can really act. (Examples: Wings of the Dove, and also more recently The Speech of the King.) I would say she doesn't look like Elizabeth Taylor at all, but that doesn't have to be an impediment (hello, Anthony Hopkins and Frank Llangella, both utterly unlike Richard Nixon in looks. And Dominic West as Burton should do a great job. I'm also intrigued that they picked what was an utter disaster, the Private Lives reunion, for the plot; it might be far smarter than to play them in their younger years.

As for an Atlantis drama, does that mean I won't be able to loathe Jason anymore? :) Could be fun.
