I didn't yet read this entry because I don't have the episode yet, but HOMELAND is really an awesome series :) So unlike everything else that's around, IMVHO.
I would say Breaking Bad is similarly unpredictable and overall better written, but Homeland certainly is great, and keeps me on my toes in the best way.
This episode really captures why I admire this show so much. Going into this season, what you're expecting is a cat and mouse game between Carrie and Brody that ends with Carrie being vindicated, Brody being exposed, and a final scene in which a humiliated Brody is carted off while Carrie gets all high and mighty about his betrayal of his country and her. And much like last season, which burned through the expected plot twists at breakneck speed (for example Brody and Carrie's relationship and his discovery that she suspects him of being a terrorist, which happens over the course of a single episode), the show gives us this ending when we're less than halfway into the season, as if acknowledging that this is what we expected to happen and now that it's over things can get properly interesting. Aside from the promise of more twists to come, this development pleases me because it indicates that the show hasn't abandoned the complexity with which it treated the war on terror last season - the point of the story isn't the heroic CIA

Jumping in, if you don't mind: I just marathoned all of Homeland that's out so far, and (1) WOW, it's an amazing show,
(2) I really don't think they'll forget the "Issa" thread. I think it's dramatically crucial for Carrie to confront the most sympathetic reason for Brody's actions, which is Issa. So she has to know about it. Right now she just thinks he's a terrorist who was turned, through some combination of propaganda, torture and possibly bribes. To fully understand Brody, she has to understand Issa's role in his life, and her memory getting jogged again would probably be the first step along that path.
(3) I think the Mike & Lauder storyline will provide a reason for Mike to check up on Brody's actions more--follow him, confirm his alibis, etc. This would lead to him finding out that Brody lies about a whole lot.
*beams It is amazing, isn't it? Glad to know you marathoned!
Yes, I agree that Carrie remembering "Issa" and the full implication will come up again. Also, it occurs to me that twice in the episode someone asks why Brody didn't go through with the bombing (since they don't know he did pull the trigger and only reconsidered the second time around after Dana's phonecall, only Brody knows that), which may be a hint Carrie and Dana will meet again and Carrie will find out Dana called her father after all. The two children (yes, Dana is a teenager, but you know what I mean), Dana and Issa, have been juxtaposed, storyline wise, in what they mean to Brody before, so might again.
