1.) Benjamin Linus (Lost). What Ben does is perhaps best described at "surviving via mindgames and manipulation" with a sideline of "don't be afraid to get yourself beaten up now and then and be in a seemingly powerless possession, it makes people even better to manipulate". You could argue that Jacob and Smokey are even better at this, but I ask ( Read more... )

And then there's the fellow in my icon, but what he does isn't very nice.

I'm sorry, I had to, I think it's a federal law.

Well, if I had a scan of that hilarious panel from Astonishing X-Men where Joss parodies that line of Wolverine's by letting him say it in Astonishing X-Men when he's mindwarped back to being William his pre-Wolverine self, afraid of blue moose and cutting paper, I would post it, but alas, I don't have one. :)

Damn, and now I want to rewatch The Bitter Suite. (Still my all-time favourite musical ep.)

For me, it contends for the title with Once more, with feeling, but it's a neck to neck contest, and of course The Bitter Suite did it first.

I like Once More, With Feeling a lot, but The Bitter Suite is just so out there with the symbolic journey and all. It wins for sheer daring.

In my fanon, there's just one thing Judi Dench!M really can't forgive Nick Fury for, and that's for making Natasha an offer Natasha couldn't refuse before she could.

Would read hell out of this fic. ♥

Hee. Has Sir Pterry said that's where he's going with it, or is this fannish speculation? I can almost see Vetinari picking Moist (Carrot seems to have chosen to serve the city in other ways--copper rather than royalty) and Moist certainly has the tricky mind Vetinari would be looking for. I'm not sure he has the, hmm...maturity? altruism? long view? something...though. Or maybe just not yet?

It's pure fannish speculation. But a very widespread one. As for Moist's lacking maturity, well, Vetinari doesn't plan on dying immediately, but long term wise...

Nataaaaaasha

that's all.

I hadn't heard the Vetinari's-grooming-Moist-for-succession theory either but it makes total, terrifying sense.
