For real?

At first I thought this was a big practical joke and/or a fannish prank, but apparantly it is for real: Joss Whedon used his spare time (?) between Avengers directing to film Much Ado About Nothing at his house with various of his favourite actors from pretty much every show he ever was involved with. *blinks* I remember first hearing about the ( Read more... )

While Claudio is, as far as I know, universally regarded as terrible (which always makes me feel bad for actors in that part because how do you make him not suck?), he might have fans because of Robert Sean Leonard in the Branagh movie.

(BTW, the most baffling reaction I've seen to this admittedly weird news is 'Why would I want to see another Much Ado movie? I love Branagh's so much!' THIS IS NOT HOW SHAKESPEARE WORKS! /ranty)

Ken B. would be the first to agree with you that this is not how Shakespeare works. :) (BTW, I remembered he also shot a quick black and white film with his friends while working on a big budget opus - In the Bleak Midwinter while he was busy with either Frankenstein or Hamlet itself.

Hm, would be interesting to find out whether die hard Wilson fans go back on Robert Sean Leonard's filmography and are pro Claudio. On the other hand, well, Claudio. So I doubt it.

RSL does do a phenomenal acting job with his Adam's apple in that one scene (and he has die hard fans that go back at least as far as Dead Poets Society) but it's hard to imagine any contemporary adult with critical faculties not noticing that Claudio sucks. I mean, he doesn't suck in a way that can be mistaken for positive qualities.

And with all these similarities in their careers, surely it's time for Joss and Ken to collaborate on . a Chimes at Midnight rock opera something.

I'm all for the Chimes at Midnight rock opera. They really should do that. Maybe there is a Marvel movie directors meeting club going on as we speak. :)

Though KB has already dropped the Thor sequel, which suggests he took their money and ran.

Doesn't mean he couldn't have run in Joss' direction.:)

Certainly nothing that's happened in the past few months has DISPROVED my rock opera theory.
