More Torchwood

Back in Bamberg somewhat exhausted but still six kilos lighter. Two Torchwood-related gifts from YouTube under the cut: the first webisode of Torchwood: Web of Lies, which I take it is an internet series to go along with Miracle Day, and the trailer for ep 2 of Miracle Day. The former is written by Jane Espenson and in addition to Eve Myles and John Barrowman stars Eliza Dushku. Brief thoughts about it are also beneath the cut.

Okay, so first of all, this furthers my suspicion Jack's immortality is connected to the Miracle; if he was abducted by parties unknown in 2007 (and presumably Team Torchwood got some retcon of their own about it), there they could have done all sorts of medical tests, taking of tissue, etc. Note that Gwen when they're still in pursuit thinks the person they're following isn't an alien, and how in the first episode of Miracle Day everyone assumes this just has to be engineered by aliens because no one human has the technology. Usually the first suspicion never is the solution to a mystery. Also: why 2007, specifically that year? Gwen talks to Tosh via headphone, so it's before the s2 finale.

There's not much to say about Eliza Dushku's character yet, but if her brother wrote about "the conspiracy to eliminate death" a week before Oswald's not-successful execution and is subseqently rendered comatose by unknown (human) thugs, that, too, would indicate we're not dealing with aliens here at all.

Two actresses showing up that I loved in other roles, which makes me very happy, and good lord, what is it with RTD and people in confined spaces? (At least this doesn't take place on the planet Midnight...)
