In which there is a mixture of good and infuriating. The infuriating part isn't on the level of The Temptation of Sarah Jane Smith, but when I caught up with my tv from last week, it did make me grind my teeth in frustration. On the bright side, the returning guest character was handled really well and I did like the conclusion of that storyline ( Read more... )

Agreed, a little disappointing - and way too reminiscent of other episodes of SJA and Dr. Who.

Even if the crack ate the world's memories, certainly Big Bang 2 and Amy's YOU ARE LATE FOR MY WEDDING outburst would've joined forces in bringing all those memories back? So, basically, yeah, the denial stories don't work.

Don't forget Clyde's mom. Single mothers with bad relationships behind them are TOO FRAGILE to be burdened with the truth, it will corrode their souls. I was fine with Donna's memory wipe on mothershow because it was for nothing less than a matter of life or death, but SJA's pattern of wiping memories for being inconvenient gets more repulsive every time they do it. I generally react affrontedly to memory wiping for convenience/"greater good" stories, Whoniverse and out.

Temptation of Sarah Jane straight up doesn't exist. It's not allowed, I have decided. Eddie and Barbara as characters can stay, but they will just have to live in a less completely crap context.

I am excited for the next episodes, though.

Clyde's mum: yes, exactly. And like you, I see a big difference between Donna's two-years-amnesia and Chrissie/Clyde's Mum/Gita/Ocean. I mean, Jack Harkness also retcons people left right and center, but that's on the show which is supposed to be morally ambigious and by a character who is that as well; whereas both Sarah Jane and her show are supposed to be better than that.

Seems like a lot of us are angry at the way Sarah Jane treated Ocean and Minty, i thought it was very cruel to say the least.

It was, and I really wish the episodes would have been written another way in this regard.
