Fannish5: Kickass Female Characters

I have the feeling I did this once before, but no time to check, plus what the hell, it's always fun to rave about the women. Xena and Angel: it's even more apparant if you're familiar with AtS and Xena's episodes in Hercules. Both characters weren't meant as leads and were originally rather one or two dimensional in their original show. Both got really fleshed out in their spin-offs. Said spin-offs, in both cases, were billed as the darker version of the 'verse presented in the original parent show. Both leads fit the dark-haired former villain (and no misunderstood harmless thief type of villain, but really slaughter-happy supervillain) on quest for redemption, occasional falling off the wagon, has episodes of brooding type.

Re: River, I think one episode where she doesn't know Amy will definitely be there; not least because it's a good way to indicate where River is in the timeline, and we'll see how Amy handles meeting someone who doesn't know her but whom she knows, which is always interesting. (River in the s5 finale hadn't experienced the "Time of the Angel" events yet but she evidently did know Amy already, so we're still due their first meeting from River's pov.)

I swear you'll love The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I haven't seen the (first two) movies in eons, so I have no idea how I'd feel about them today, but I remember being impressed. Still, I did not love the way I did the show. (And the difference isn't just Summer Glau versus Arnold Schwarzenegger but the tv format allowing for complicated, leisurely narration.)
