Oh, Vir. In my mind, he was the best Centauri emperor ever; his reign was full of peace and prosperity and joy. Because, yes, very very competent and level-headed.

That is my fanon as well. *glares at Kosh and his "dead people" dismissal of both Centauri and Narn*

Ditto on that Spock moment. I actually did a double take after the end of the episode and went - "wait, what?" Spock, of all people - in what's supposed to be an advanced society, no less - making the insinuation that the victim on some level enjoyed what happened to her? That it was clearly packaged as a comedic moment, and that poor Rand's primary purpose - especially in those early eps - was 'Creepy Dude of the Week' Bait, just irritated me more. (If I were her, frankly, I don't know if I could have handled continuing to serve under the direct command of someone who looks exactly like the guy who nearly raped me, but that's another discussion.)

In my head, that's one big reason why Rand leaves the Enterprise, even though she's too nice to tell Kirk that. I rather enjoyed finding out she ended up at Sulu's Excelsior, though. (Far from Kirk and Spock both.)

I have so many issues with The Enemy Within, not least that line. (Also the actress - who had suffered from abuse - got to have not one but two sexual assault scenes in her 8 episodes on the show. No wonder she broke down.)

I like your list of badass women, too - but, what, no Delenn?

Also much WORD on Vir's competency. (I also really like O'Brien, who is one of my favourite engineers, not least because of his no-nonsense attitude to it all.)

I wanted to include Delenn, but I wanted to include the other ladies even more. (Pre season 4.5, I definitely would have included Laura Roslin, btw, but alas for the awful effect of Bill *spits* Adama on people...)

O'Brien is wonderfully competent as well. Again, so many competent darlings, so little space!

Janice Rand and her actress: yes, that makes for additional viewer's rage on my part, too.

You'd never go wrong picking Thessaly, as long as you had something to pay her with...

On Lorne - ugh, I'm glad I'm not the only one who balked at that. And I'm quite sure I would have even if I weren't so fond of Darla.

Also, once I do get to watch B5, it will be all your fault. *g*

We can object together. *glares at Lorne*

Also, give in to the B5 watching urge! It's so worth it!
