Fannish5: Name 5 dead characters you'd like to see resurrected.

May 01, 2009 16:14

This is trickier to answer than you'd think, because in some cases I had to filter out candidates whose death, while hitting me hard, was quintessential for future plot development, and in others I expect their eventual resurrection anyway. *cough Steve Rogers cough*

The remaining candidates are:

Spoilers for Lost, Alias, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Battlestar Galactica and Torchwood )

buffy, fanfic rec, lost, battlestar galactica, torchwood, alias, angel, discworld, meme

I thought Anya's death was a bit cheap, personally - hmm, which of the non-central Scoobies should be slice apart? Well, Emma said she didn't want to do an y spinoffs... :p

It didn't hit as hard since it was the end of the series, but...it just seemed gratuitous, especially since she didn't get to do very much in the season after her redemption. (I think season severn suffered a lot from the writers just not knowing what to do with people.)

I'd bring back Jenny, personally. Do you hear me, comics? Do you?

(And, well, Kate didn't actually die but she almost may as well have.)

Being written off in a non-lethal way because the actress went to another show does not count as death.:) And I always loved the final scene between Kate and Angel. If she had to leave, that was a good way to say goodbye.

(As you know, in my personal canon she moves on to Miami.*g*)

So did I! That's one of my favourite scenes in Angel. It's just...I'd have liked some sort of mention after? Angel's half of a phone conversation, a passing reference to an old friend, something. Just to know how she was doing. As it is, it's like she disappeared into the ether after Epiphany.

(Hee, and lovely canon it is. In mine she is travelling around the country as a Rogue Demon Hunter.

And possibly became a Slayer after Chosen.)

Anya has never been resurrected in the comics so far as I know. I do favor fan fiction in which she shows up as a valkyrie and reenacts the Valeria/Conan scene from the first Conan movie with Xander, however.

ITA about Rousseau, esp. since she was the only prominent female character who didn't look under 30.

Anya...hmm, I dunno. She doesn't have nearly the same history with Angel or any of the characters, so I don't think it would have been as entertaining.

Jack also heard Arvin's conversations with the dead Nadia and thus realised he had gone completely insane after her death, meaning lessened responsibility for the actions after same) and then, realizing he couldn't dig himself out on his lonesome, Jack helped Sloane with the column and they eventually made it back to the surface.

...

You know I've had this half-written on my hard-drive for the past week, right?

*is spooked*
