BSG 2.08 and Veronica Mars

Sep 11, 2005 16:46

Driving back to Munich from Bamberg, I promptly got into a traffic jam. Which drains energy in a major way. Still, quick reviews, for I have seen both BSG 2.08 and Veronica Mars until episode 15, the later only in parts because it's damaged. It's also the last VM episode I have, so I must pump monanotlisa for more again.

But, Final Cut, aka BSG 2.08. first ( Read more... )

episode review, veronica mars, battlestar galactica

No comments on the murder arc, ships, etc.

With AH in it I had to work very hard to resist the temptation to put a "Willow's real father" subplot into my VM crossover. The sister does get a little more screen time later on, but not huge amounts - so little that I can't actually remember her character's first name.

As for Mac, she's if anything a Willow clone, not a Veronica clone. Only on a "for hire" basis...

REALLY looking forward to next season and the Charisma Carpenter story arc.

Forgot to say that I agree completely about the only child thing - it is odd that NONE of the scoobies had siblings until Dawn came along.

I didn't say "Veronica clone" - what I meant was that she seems to parallel/contrast Veronica as say, Cordelia did Buffy in the early seasons. If she reminds of any Jossverse person, though, it would be Dawn. I half expected MT in the credits the first time she showed up.

Picking an outside point of view was probably a smart thing to do, because there is no way you could do justice to all the emotional fallout from recent events and kick off the next arc with an inside pov.

I thought so, too, only when I tried to explain it this morning it ended up a very confusing run-on sentence, so it's nice to read that summed up so well. :-) I had my issues with the episode, but I liked that they chose this kind of thing for after the first arc.

Hit submit too fast. Meant so say something on the towel scene and nudist beaches. :-)

I quite liked the scene even though I wasn't squeeful about the towel, because I like the way these people being naked isn't meant to be sexual. Sure, outside the context of the show it's also meant as eye candy for the viewers, but not inside the show. They're naked; it's not a big deal. It's more of a practical issue than anything else.

And I smiled at your comment on nudist beaches because that's what I was thinking of as well when I figured out my liking of the scene despite the lack of hormonal reaction on my part. I'm used to nudist beaches and even camp sites, and have had many a conversation about how nudity isn't always about Teh Sex. So, I liked seeing it treated as not a big occasion of collective lusting and leering.

Yes, exactly. It's an every day thing, and solely the presence of the reporter team makes them slightly uncomfortable.

Do you still need the fourth season of Farscape, oh gracious one, or has someone else provided?

Lucy Lawless is phenominal, but yeah, I was kind of bored in this one. Not that the emotional developments weren't great, but that the framing was very cliche. Until that final scene. Like yourself, I did really notice the concern the Cylons were showing for their fellow Cylons. It's not the first time when I've wondered who I'm supposed to be rooting for on this show...
