I think I'd be disappointed in Gus if he pulled a Theseus and tried to kill Ziegler once the lab was complete. One of his defining traits was genuine respect for the people he had working for him, and a determination to find and promote people who deserved that respect. It's why he and Walt clashed, because Walt was never willing to put himself in the kind of subservient position that most of Gus's henchmen accepted and even valued. Showing himself to Ziegler directly indicates that the man has passed a test and revealed himself to be the sort of person Gus can respect, and it would be out of character for him to be planning to kill him. Plus, there's simply no way Mike would stand for it.
