I liked the actress who portrayed Kalifa. I did. But for her progress to happen later in a Redgrave voiceover didn't work for me this time. She was so staunch in what her mother did to her and would do to her sister. I would have liked to have seen her progress. As it is, we are unlikely to see her again.

I hope Sr. Mary Cynthia's character doesn't leave the show. She's one of the original midwives and I'm rather attached to her. No, she wasn't tortured as I feared, but when I think of Sister Monica Joan crying for her and waiting at that gate worrying, it breaks my heart.

I'm not sure when Sr. Winifred will get her own storyline. But maybe it's best she fly under the radar. I don't fare well with characters named Winifred . . .
