I did like Rylance a lot in Bridge of Spies, but there certainly was some heavy symbolism in the settings.

Oh, Rylance was superb. He's really good with being arresting in a "can't take eyes of him" way while hardly speaking.

I haven't seen any of these but have been hoping to go to Mongolia for a while (Helsinki to St Petersburg, then to Moscow, on to Ulan Ude, then Ulan Bator, then Beijing is my dream itinerary) so I'll have to check out Marco Polo just for the scenery :).

The scenery is certainly gorgeous. Here are photos and reports from my own trip.

Thank you! I'm short on time right now but look forward to enjoying it later.

I've been on the fence about watching Marco Polo, but this seems like a more positive review than most. (Or maybe the mention of the royal power couple just hits me in the right spot.). But it's an awful lot of hours to give to something that mixes up the great and the terrible...

Here are a couple of reviews which I found very fair about both the bad and the good in the series. If you have other shows you want to watch first, do these, but if you have some free time, well, as mentioned in my review, it offers some things I really appreciated.
