Thanks - that was a lot more than I expected, and it felt right. Jack is saving the world, Noah is protecting his family (or at least his daughter), neither is exactly wrong but both drop the ball a little in one or another area.
As you know, I originally suggested Jack versus Phil Coulson (Agents of SHIELD etc) since they have similar jobs, but Noah is also in this weird business and I think this ended up being more interesting.
Huh. Now you've got me thinking about both of these characters as compared and contrasted with the spydads from Alias, who of course have that moment at the end of season four where it's illustrated that Sloane is capable of choosing to save Sydney by harming Nadia while Jack Bristow could never do the same if the tables were turned. (I feel like Jack Bristow and Noah Bennet would understand each other very well. And probably get on well too, provided it never came to a situation where what was best for one of their daughters was bad for the other.)
Provided that, yes, though they also would expect each other to have secret agendas running which they don't share. :) Also, Noah wouldn't get Jack's relationships with either Sloane or Irina, because they're utterly unlike his own experience with either Bob or Claude. (As in: he liked Claude but not enough not to throw him to the dogs if necessity demanded, and he never felt emotionally connected to Bob.)
No, Jack would never have been able to do it, either.
