...well, I'd be pretty proud of myself for having a hit show in its sixth season firing on all thrusters, for starters. No, but seriously, I do have some complaints but generally I'm in awere of what The Good Wife pulls off and continues to pull off. Stll, in the spirit of the prompt, and hidden under a spoiler cut so that readers who are one or several seasons behind are safe if they choose to be:
- I would let Alicia realise she made a horrible mistake with agreeing to move back to the old office, accepting Howard as a partner, and in general changing Florick & Agos back to L & G, Mark II. Or at least realise she made a mistake with the old office. Seriously, this is the thing still most sticking in my throat, still, and I will not shut up about it until they move out again. (Preferably minus Howard, but I'll take moving out.) I will never not hate they're back in the old office and the symbolism of that. Florick & Agos & converted warehouse forever!
- I'd let Alicia lose the election, not because her opponent is that good but because she doesn't want it for a positive reason. I.e. she decided to run because of her distaste of Castro, which is a negative reason.
- I'd let Kalinda save herself from Bishop by faking her death and starting a new life elsewhere, but not before framing Bishop for her supposed death, which would be such a lovely irony. And something I stole from Dürrematt. I.e. a long term criminal who was always able to secure himself with power and/or faked alibis finally brought down via a crime he didn't commit, and thus was caught unawares re: providing himself with an alibi.
- I'd bring Robin back on the screen, though I expect that to happen as soon as Archie Panjabi makes her exit, which is the sole reason why I'm not complaining about the lack of Robin right now. I understand they want to use what Panjabi time they have left. Still, some final scenes between Kalinda and Robin before Kalinda fakes her death? Please?
- however Cary will be saved from spending the next years in prison via plot device, and enabled to still practice as a lawyer, I'd do that. (I would also let him decide he will not go back to the damm old office, at which point Alicia realises, see above. ) You know what a neatly ironic and ic endgame for Cary would be? If he were to run for State Attorney and wins. Not this season, obviously, even if he's saved, but some years into the future. Because Cary is the type who'd do it for a positive reason (along with personal ambition which has never left him). You could also factor in his Bishop experience because he has to be aware he's not completely innocent there - innocent of what he's been charged with, sure, but in the larger sense he, Alicia, Diane, the late Will and everyone else were fine with representing a drug lord and killer, keep him out of jail and profit from that for years, and I remember his s2 conversation with Alicia about why he was working for the state attorney office then. Of course he's aware that has moral problems of its own, massive ones, but I really could see him decide eventually to run for that reason.
- Finn Polmar right now is nice eye and ear candy and sympathetic, but also a bit too good to be true (for long). Now he's evidently set up as Alicia's love interest. TPTB were quick to remove the wife he had when introduced. I'm not usually into triangles, but I would bring her back and let Alicia experience being The Other Woman for a while until she decides no, it's not for her. And then Finn and wife would exit the show, because I do not want him to be the new Will and the new Cary in the cursed old office (see above), and they already moved him in the damm building.
- I would like SOMEONE to call Diane on her "oh, this firm will be a chance for women and poc" pitch, in a big way. Not because I thought it was ooc for Diane to make it - it was very Diane, and a perfect line to sell when she needed the support. But lilke her speech about women sticking together to Alicia in the pilot only for her to choose Cary, not Alicia, as a protegé,the reality of the situation has always been that Diane for all her progressive ideas and her (I think) sincere belief in them is a solidly conventional power player most comfortable in working with the old system.
