In which there's lods of build up, handcuffs and reunions.
Admittedly I was distracted a few times by wondering whether we'd ever get a line of dialogue explaining why Regina doesn't teleport when time is of the essence. (Rumplestilslkin doesn't because he's playing a double game, but you'd think Regina could to a teleport and grab on Elsa's amulet.) But generally this prelude to everyone doing darkside worked well for me. (I knew they wouldn't prevent it because playing their evil or at least darkish alter egos are what actors live for.) Including Snow and David managing to express their faith in and love for Emma in a way that gives Emma something to cling to while the shards last because undoubtedly Dark!Snow and Dark!Charming will say things hitting directly at all her vulnerabilities and abandonment issues.
Incidentally, Gold is awfully sure he'll be immune from the spell due to being the Dark One. It would be ironic if what will be preventing his getaway won't be Belle and Henry finding out the truth (though I dearly hope for this, of course) but the mirror shards affecting him. Not only does he have a well of self loathing in there but paranoia to the nth degree even on a good day. Now of course him seeing the bad in most things and killing people doesn't need a mirror shard, but maybe it works in reverse with the Dark One and he ends up as the weaver, paralyzed with fear and despair?
Meanwhile, I continue to be slightly suprised how much I like the Frozen characters. Theoretically I was sure Anna and Christoph would never be killed off but them in the box in the sea gave me Sun and Jin in Lost flashbacks, and for a moment I thought, hang on, some of the writers are Lost types, surely they wouldn't...
Speaking of the sea, presto, the Chekovian bottle showed up only shortly after Anna and Christoph. Methinks this is how the Ingrid situation will eventually be resolved, because since Elsa has already found her Anna-indepdent confidence, that can't be why the writers had Gerda write the mysterious message to begin with. So, current guess: somehow, despite ordered Trollish mindwipe, Gerda remembered her sisters again, and with the added Elsa and Anna experience in her life repented of how she had reacted all those years ago when finding a panicked Ingrid with Helga's frozen body. That's what the message will be about and that's what's going to affect Ingrid whose original trauma had been being rejected and condemmed by what truly had been a horrible accident.
