pre-black friday deal?

Every year my mom wants the same thing for xmas...bubble bath from Bath & Body Works. This year B&BW has gone to a new extreme of making me feel -okay- about getting more stuff from them than I actually wanted. The special this year is: Buy 3 Get 3 Free on any Signature Series crap. The way it works is, first the shop girl tells you about the special, then you end up piling 6...yes SIX bottles of bubble bath in your bag at 12bucks each. By this point you are asking yourself "should I really get this much?", but hey, they are really only gonna be like 6bucks each after they apply the special right?
While you are waiting in line you start to question whether or not you are really getting a deal here. I mean, you are still looking at 36bucks for freakin bubble bath. Jeez. So when you get to the register, the register babe negates any hesitation you may have by adding in that you get "an extra 10$ off for buying more than 30$ worth". There is no way you are gonna back out now.

In the end you spend 27$ and change for the 6 Bubble baths, which is approx $4.50 a bottle, but you FEEL like you got a crazy good deal since when they rang it all up the ORIGINAL figure was $72.00! If they put this stuff out on the shelf for $4.50 a bottle, do you think they would sell more of it? Less? I think less because I would have probably just gotten 3 bottles and opted to get mom something else from another store in addition to the bubble bath.

You win this round B&BW. I applaud your retail psychological weaponry. Bonus points for having extremely attractive and helpful sirens at the front of the store to help me through the seduction process. They even give you a coupon for $10 off any other purchase of $30 or more when you leave, which is the retail equivalent of the babe you pulled from the bar last night leaving her number on the nightstand after she dips out early the following morning without waking you up.
