roadtrip2008 post 10: Baltimore downtime
Arrived back in Baltimore at just before after midnite Wednesday morning. Crept into moms hut as quietly as I could and got some much needed rest. Did nothing during the day except post info about the trip. The folks fixed an incredible (to me) dinner of pot roast, mashed potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower, and applsauce. They have mastered cooking. Not complicated recipes...but simple meals made with a huge attention to detail. Terrific.
I tried to make arrangements to hook up with my old high school bud and current scrabble victim/tormentor Sandroid but she gave me the weird brush off. I think I got dissed in favor of the Vice-Pres debate.
Slept well wednesday night.
Thursday I continued trying to x-fer 8 zillion memories from the NY portion of the journey onto my various blogs. It was further complicated by having to edit the ones for my rideBikes blog to JUST include the biking portions. I was able to cross post most of the content, but had some trouble getting photos to x-fer from rideBikes to LJ/Myspace. Bleh..boooring.
While all this was happening, I was also hanging out with Mom in deep chit-chat mode. I got one of the squirrels she feeds to come up and get the peanut right out of my hand...crazy thing! I had decided to stay an extra day here in Baltimore because Eric had something to attend to in Greenville SC and couldn't hook up with me thursday night. I'm kind of glad I stayed...it was restful and I really enjoy the time I get with my mom. I may not see her again for another 2 years or so...who knows?
Tomorrow...Greenville bound.
