unexpected goodness

So I slept in late today, til about 12:30, not exactly looking forward to having to go try the cdl written exam because of the vision portion holding me back from even getting to the written part. Still, I had to go at least give it a run, because , well...what else was I going to do today? I had gone to the information session that Gwinnett County did regarding the test on saturday, I had studied the cdl book thoroughly before I even went to the info meeting, and if for some reason they failed me on the vision but let me take the written portion anyway, I could get at least some of it out of the way.
When I got to the Dept of Driver Services, I gave the lady the form I had been instructed to bring with me and she gave it back asking me to check one of the boxes in the section regarding the DOT medical card. I checked the one saying I was exempt from having any limitations regarding the DOT card thinking that it was the best path to take since saying I -did- have limitations certainly would have created some long side-chain of problems. While she was doing her portioni of the paperwork, I was leaning as far over the counter as I could without drawing attention, and -memorizing the answers to the eye machine test- because they were right there where i could see them.

When she finished with her portion of the clerical biz, I was expecting her to instruct me to look into the eye machine and ask me to read the lines etc etc, but instead she told me to go to computer number 8 and begin my test!

I ended up passing al the tests, but I was a bit confused as to why I had been given a test on driving doubles and triple trailers, when I was supposed to be taking only the tests neccesary for the Class B School Bus endorsment and the P passenger endorsment. Somehow I ended up passing the doubles and triples test as well! Then when I was finished with passenger, air brakes, and school bus specific tests (about 100 questions total) I was instructed to go back to the person that helped me. When I got there, a different lady noticed that I had not taken the -general knowledge- test, so she sent me back over to the computron for another 50 questions. Things started off a little rough on this portion, but in the end, your boy pulled it off!

So, I got my CDL learners permit today! They never even asked about my eyes!

Not only that but I passed all the requirments for a Class A (Tractor trailer) even though I didn't neccesarily need to...but just in case I decide to become a trucker dood, I will already have the written test completed. The only other endorments I could get is for tanker truck and hazmat, niether of which i will need anytime soon, or probably ever.

As a bonus, since they were going to be printing up a new card for me anyway, the guy who sets up your actual license to be printed asked me if I wanted another copy of my regular drivers license as well, and since it was FREE, and since my other license card, known as the LINECUTTER2000, was being held together by some flimsy ass tape. Of course I went for the new one which will remain free of having to do any powder preparing duties.

On to the next step in the process...>>>>

eyes, cdl, bus
