Below is a list of my favorite movies set during the 1920s decade:

FAVORITE MOVIES SET DURING THE 1920s



1. "Some Like It Hot" (1959) - Billy Wilder directed this superb comedy about a pair of musicians who flee Chicago after witnessing a mob hit by pretending to be female musicians. Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon starred.



2. "Singin' in the Rain" (1952) - Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and Debbie Reynolds starred in this musical classic about Hollywood's transition from silent films to talkies. Kelly co-directed with Stanley Donen.



3. "Those Daring Young Men in Their Jaunty Jalopies" aka "Monte Carlo or Bust" (1969) - Tony Curtis, Susan Hampshire and Terry-Thomas starred in this comedy about participants in the Monte Carlo Rally in 1929. Ken Annakin directed.



4. "Changeling" (2008) - Clint Eastwood directed this true story about a woman's efforts to find her missing son in 1928 Los Angeles. Angelina Jolie starred.



5. "Bullets Over Broadway" (1994) - Woody Allen directed this hilarious tale about a struggling playwright forced to cast a mobster's talentless girlfriend in his latest drama in order to get it produced. John Cusak, Oscar winner Dianne Wiest, and Oscar nominees Chazz Palminteri and Jennifer Tilly starred.



6. "The Cat's Meow" (2001) Peter Bogdanovich directed this fictionalized account of William Randolph Hearst's famous 1924 cruise for Hollywood producer Thomas H. Ince. Kirsten Dunst, Edward Hermann, Eddie Izzard and Cary Elwes starred.



7. "The Painted Veil" (2006) - Naomi Watts and Edward Norton starred in this latest adaptation of W. Somerset Maugham's 1925 novel about an English doctor fighting a cholera outbreak in China, while trapped in a loveless marriage with his unfaithful wife.



8. "The Mummy" (1999) - Stephen Sommers directed this entertaining remake of the classic horror movie about members of an archaeological dig who unearth a cursed mummy. Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz starred.



9. "Agatha" (1979) - Dustin Hoffman and Vanessa Redgrave starred in this fictionalized account of the eleven days that author Agatha Christie was missing in 1926. Michael Apted directed.



10. "Chicago" (2002) - Rob Marshall directed this Oscar winning adaptation of the 1975 Broadway play about a pair of murderesses in Chicago of the late 1920s. Renee Zellweger, Oscar winner Catherine Zeta-Jones and Richard Gere starred.
