tutorial #10

Mar 12, 2008 16:02

Still can't post the icons I wanted to post, but until I can, have another tutorial :)

to

1. crop your base 100x100

2. duplicate your base and set it to screen 100%

3. repeat step 2 until it's light enough - I have 3 screen layers at 100% and another one at 19%

4. duplicate the base again, drag it on to the top and set it to soft light 92%

5. now I used a selective color layer, with these settings
Reds: C -100 | Y +42
Yellows: C -100 | R +14 | Y +46
Neutrals: C +28 | Y -6
set the opacity of this layer to 80%

6. next, create a new layer, fill it with #00162A (dark blue) and set it to color dodge 100%

7. duplicate that layer, slightly change the opacity to 96%

8. and duplicate again, change the opacity to 20%

9. another new layer, fill it with #97C8F4 (lighter blue), set to darken 29%

10. next new layer, fill it with #68370B (brown-ish dark orange), set to color dodge 30%

11. add a brightness/contrast layer, with a contrast of +10

12. put a grunge texture or two on there, done! :)

As usual, you shouldn't follow this tutorial exactly, change the numbers according to your image and try out what works best for you :)

Comments if you liked this would be very much appreciated :)

other icons made using this coloring (with tweaked settings)

aaaand, please vote in the finals at bwlims, so that the results can be posted and I can post my icons XD
