G'bye, 35mm film.

Apparently, Nikon and Canon have decided to stop making film cameras. I remember hearing something about Konika doing the same.

I wonder how long before the Porsche's of the camera world, such as Leica, decide to follow?

It would be a grand insult to call Leica and Hasselblad the "Porsches of the camera world." That would be like calling a Ferrari or a MacLaren "average coupes." Hasselblad is king of the realm when it comes to "Medium Format" imaging and would be more akin to a Rolls Royce. Leica is an institution and some of their cameras from the days of World War II and perhaps before are still in working condition solely on the basis of how well they were made. I have little experience with the Leica's of today, but in high-end optics, they are still one of the premeire names to beat along with Zeiss, Heidelberg, and Swarovsky.

not to jump your shit, but let's not be insulting legends around here.

As a side note, Canon and Nikon would be more apt to occupy the slot of "Porsches of the camera world" as their form follows function and they are widely available and for what they are, they have no peer.

LOL

Dude. While you have a point, it's obvious you haven't driven a Porsche :) Yeah, they're common, but man -- driving one is... well, it's indescribable.

Also, I work for Leica :)

interesting.

no I have not driven a Porsche, and honestly, I have no desire to. After driving an uparmored humvee down the streets of baghdad, driving anything short of an F-22 Raptor or an M-1A2 Abrams tank is just going to be ordinary.
