Folks, it is with extreme regret that I say this:
Ronnie Sox is dead. He passed away, suffering from cancer, yesterday.
I realize that almost no one will know who this great man was. I will try to explain, drawing on my own experience. Personally, I found references to Ronnie Sox when I was learning to power-shift. Sox is considered a legend in the drag-racing circuit, and was among the greatest drivers of all time. He was the greatest power-shifter of his generation -- a pioneering generation. He is called, to this day, "Mr. Four-Speed."
There are a few men who expand the horizons of a field. For example, Royce Gracie (discussed earlier) introduced grappling techniques that are now perfected and practiced as an art in Mixed Martial Arts. Similarly, Sox's brilliance with the clutch-dance-and-hard-yank of power-shifting is what every driver trying to power-shift looks to now. Others may be better; he was, however, the first. We have him for an example. He had no one.
