I made it to give to Dir en grey at the Cleveland meet and greet, but this piece, I guess, means a lot to me in a completely unrelated way, I suppose.
btw, livejournal cut text doesn't work for me, and I have no idea why not.
(based on dead tree? I suppose so. It's only 5x7 so I can put it in my purse XD)
It's like finally, I've found it, the way I can make serious art. . . I'm not sure when I lost the anger needed to draw myself with maggots eating out my eyes and flowers blooming with bones. . . maybe it's just hidden, but I like the watercolor with the newspaper and acrylics, and the 3d sort of ness. The acrylic over the newsprint reminded my of Rauschenberg's Cardbirds and it has a bird (no reference either, that's why it's kind of bad) and lyrics from Dead Tree, thus, Cardbird in the Dead Tree. Logical, eh?
I read some Jasper Johns quotations this morning and I realized (almost on the level of when PR Miller made me realize that my opinions are valid) that maybe art is logical and mathematical and maybe means something, and maybe it doesn't, and it encourages discussion, and maybe that's part of what makes it so good and wonderful and beautiful and human.
wtf it's about art and kind of intelligent. I must be losing my grip.
