HELP! :(
Okay - I need a middle eastern-ish caftan to wear as a cover-up AND costume for the DDLC performance March 8th. It needs to be Egyptian-ish - I am wearing it for a Zar piece in which I'm playing a frame drum.
I bought a whole slew of dark red cotton to make one, but I can't find any trim. I don't want to use crappy Joann's ribbon. I want it too look somewhat ethnic and somewhat...I dunno...good?
So, I either need to 1) find out where I can find decent middle eastern ish trims to decorate this thing after I make it, or 2) give up and buy one, which means finding one made for a 5'10" plus sized girl that is not $150.
You guys have any idea? I just looked on google and ebay for 20+ minutes for both of these things and I want to pull my hair out.
I've looked at these damn things like 20 times at various Rakkasahs and always passed them by because I never found one I was completely happy with (or it was more expensive than I wanted to be.) Now i wish I had just gotten one of them and moved on with my life.
I also have to make a gallibayah for another dancer. My mom's embroidery sewing machine is broken, so some small embroidery-like trim to put on the collar of that would be awesome as well.
