so I haven't been mentioning it 'cause, dude, sports geek that I am I was afraid if I said anything I would jinx them. but now I can't help it and wanna shout all about it.

UofL baseball!

before this season, they've never even won an NCAA tournament game before! this year they made it to the tournament and they're tearing it up! last weekend they won the regional. and this weekend they won their super regional! they won 2-out-of-3 vs. Oklahoma State. yesterday's score was 20-2!! dude! I spent Friday, Saturday, and Sunday watching the games, or finding a way to hear them on the radio. I got off work an hour after the game had started on Friday, drove to my brother's to feed his cats, then stayed for 2 hours to watch the rest of the game.

to show just how great the team is doing, yesterday in the bottom of the 8th the score was UofL 16 - Oklahoma State 2. our lead-off batter got a double. the next batter was walked. and the next batter was hit by a pitch. bases loaded, the next batter walks to the plate and gets a grand slam homerun. 20-2. awesome.

the super regional was actually in town here at UofL's very cool baseball stadium. it was obviously sold-out everyday. there was even Standing Room Only on the outfield berm. people also sat on rooftops right next to the stadium. everyday I watched the # of people on this one roof grow. I hope they don't have roof issues after having that much weight on their roof for that long in this much heat. the mayor could even be seen right behind homeplate. everytime there was a shot of someone batting righthanded, you could see him behind them.

so next weekend it's on to Omaha for the COLLEGE WORLD SERIES. this is incredible. I've been seriously debating going to Omaha. but a) I'm going to Origins in like 3 weeks, b) I'm still paying for the Orange Bowl trip, c) I need to put a roof on the house, and d) I want to save for next year's bowl game. so I will be watching UofL on tv. but go CARDS!!

oh, and also? the guy doing the radio call totally rocked. during Saturday's game, a UofL batter hit the ball back through the pitcher's legs. and the radio announcer said,

"That was straight down the middle, just like an Art Carmody field goal."

this guy is so a Cardinal fan. *love*
