It's definitely time to go higher tech around here. We've had something go wonky with our phone line, intermittently, for the past year. Actually, it doesn't even happen all that often. The last time we had the problem was last November, and it's only struck us again in the past few weeks.
The problem has something to do with disturbance on our phone line. It's sort of a static thing, but all of the tricks for clearing static off the line have no effect. Last November it was so bad that it was impossible to talk on the phone. And forget about dial-up internet.
This time, it isn't too bad in the phone, just a faint murmur in the background. But, it is having an annoying effect on our internet connection. Dial up is never great, but if the line is acting up, it can now take us five minutes to load a page (if it doesn't time out in the interim). Sometimes, I will try loading a few of pages at the same time with nothing happening for three minutes and the, bam, they all load all at once, like the interference has cleared for a minute or two. And it has nothing to do with the connection speed. That can be quite high (for our dial up) and the problem will come and go at just the same frequency as a slower connection.
So, instead of getting someone to come in a crawl around under the house to find which phone jack is causing the static build up (or whatever the problem is), we figure we will just get away from dial-up all together. I don't really care if the phone gets any better than it is right now. That's why God made cell phones and voice mail. We just can't stand the dial-up hang ups. Time to join the 21st Century (she types as she listens to Berlin's Pleasure Victim I am nothing but a collection of contradictions).
So, I bring all this up because we are looking at Cavelier's bundled offers for high-speed, phone, and TV service. They seem to offer the best rates around here. And we can't really afford to spend more than we are right now (and right now we are being royally screwed by three different providers). So, I was wondering if anyone out there had tried Cavelier and what your experiences were.
Please and thank you.
NOw, if I can only get this to post, things will be good.
