Three Good Things

Three Good Things happened today, so I wanted to share them.

First: I found someone who has a pair of large garden shears and is willing to loan them to me to prune my rosemary bush so I can remove it from the community garden and move it to our complex.  I haven't been able to finish clearing out my plot because of this HUGE bush; now I can, and I don't have to pay $20-$30 I can't afford for a tool I'll only use once.

Second: Martin tried a new pain medication last month, not because the old one wasn't working but because it was costing us $45/month (copay).  The new one was only $15-$20 (can't remember which now), but it DID NOT WORK, and it also made him really sick.  So Tuesday he had to ask for the old one back, and we just found out that the copay has gone up to $50.  However, he had found a coupon thingy online for the good one, and although it had an expiration date of 2010, we printed it out and took it to our pharmacy anyway, to see if perhaps it would still work.  IT DOES.  So now he can go back to the really good medication, and we'll be paying only $20/month instead of $45.

Third: The van is smogged.  Martin took it in to the smog repair place this morning, but they couldn't find ANYTHING wrong with it, even though they had the paper from the smog check telling them exactly what didn't pass, so they knew exactly what to look for.  (I'm thinking maybe it was a loose hose or seal or something like that, and they "fixed" it while doing the diagnostic?)  Anyway, their machine said it was fine, so they took it back to the smog place (just a few doors down) for the free retest, and HIS machine passed it this time as well.  So it's done...  It cost us $135, which included the smog certificate they send to the DMV.  While $125 of it was for the diagnostic, at least WE didn't have to pay for it, as it came out of the money Martin's parents sent us for Yule to get the washing machine.  And we still have enough left for a washer.

Three good things in one day, all involving money.  I'm just grateful.  Thank you.
