Had to share this because it really is cool... :-)
For Yule, Martin gave me an entire set of the characters from "Where the Wild Things Are". It's one of my all-time favorite children's books, and when I found out he had NEVER read it (!!), I dug it out and read it out loud to him at bedtime one night, complete with sound effects and facial expressions, just like I used to read it to Stuart when he was little. (Martin got a real kick out of that.) Anyway, when he saw this set of figures being offered on e-Bay, he just couldn't resist getting it for me. They're BIG, too, the tallest being about 7.5 inches. The positions they are in recreate the section with no words, right after Max yells, "Let the wild rumpus start!", where everyone is dancing, stomping and waving their arms under the full moon.
Now they live on top of my desk's overhead cupboards, where I can look up from typing and see them dancing and grinning down at me, waving their terrible claws, rolling their terrible eyes, and showing their terrible teeth in roars and smiles. Actually, the only way you CAN see most of their faces is by putting them up high, where they can look down at you.
It's totally awesome, having the "wild rumpus" happening on top of my desk all day. Gives me ideas, you know?? ::wide fangy grin::

just for fun
