my vote is for the expensive and really good flat-iron. Ceramic. Pay for it...because what you save in money you lose in the product. I find that if I have a good flat-iron I don't need any product for my hair. But with a cheap flat-iron you need product to de-friz it.

Just my two cents

besides, you are worth it!

yes - i think i'm going to get a more spendy, better quality flat iron - well more around the $100 range than the $20 range ;) now i just have to decide on plate width - jeesh! they say w/ something like 1 1/4" you can get closer to your head/scalp - but w/ 1 3/4" you can iron more hair quicker - and i have a lot of hair - so i dunno. but i am getting closer to a decision - i think it takes me like a week to decide on any purchase over $50 :P

If I had long hair I would go with a wider plate so you could do it faster. I just use the small plates because I have like 3 hairs and they are only about 5 inches long

do I feel a shopping trip coming on? Or are you too mommified to tackle power shopping with a baby? (And I am talking about Gunnar..not me)
