Reworking a fanfic idea to original
The idea's been bugging me for a bit but I'm having trouble hashing it out. As a fanfic it would have been a sequel/companion piece to a DBZ fanfic i wrote in 2000, Not Much Between Dispair And Ecstasy, it's a Mirai line what-if that has an OFC that was Tien's half-human daughter. (I didn't watch Dragonball so I assumed Tien was an alien too.) She was going to be shipped with Gohan again in the canon timeline because I hate the Saiyaman arc with Vegeta of all people being her mentor because she actually treats him with respect. I never started writing, but it popped back into my head because a few fav notices popped up. Thinking it over in bed brought up a kinky dream between her and Vegeta instead and the thought won't let go. I never watched the Majin Buu arc let alone anything afterwards so there's no wayi I'm trying to fanfic it.
I want to keep the mentor/student dynamic with a significant age difference, just not 'old enough to be your father' and him being one alien race with her being half-Earthling half-other alien race. Rereading the fanfic i realized I missed something, she was conceived due to a mating drive but she doesn't. I want to bring that back: he knows what other race she is and realizes the drive has kicked in, explains it to her and helps her through it. She gets pregnant and they have to figure out where to go from there.
There's two things tripping me up right now, the world building and redeveloping Vegeta. I want to stick with the basic idea of the fanfic with remnants of two alien races living on Earth, but how do I get the leader of one group to be the mentor of a halfblood of the other group? Are one or both in hiding, why does the MC not know she's a halfblood?
As for the Vegeta-based character, his arrogance is getting cut down to overconfidence. He comes across as being better than without saying it but for some reason he treats her as an equal.idk how i want the others of his race he's in contact with to treat her or their relationship.
Since I'm such a procrastinator I'm hoping if i start now i can get it plotted out in time for NaNoWritMo.
