Two posts in one day!
*fanfare*
Wow, I'm actually FULL from the potluck. Last semester, I left still feeling hungry since by the time I reached the heavier food in the line, it'd all been snatched up by earlier people. I got one tiny slice of our brownies-- am happy to report that the brownies were finished within the first ten minutes. No exaggerration. I'd hung around what I called the "main course" table for a while, but couldn't break through the barrier of hungry bodies to reach for the food within. Then I slipped over to the dessert table, and all three brownie plates were empty. O_O
Was about to upload two photos from the potluck, when I decided to clean out my handphone photos and... well, picspam ahead. XD
Our turtle brownie, lazing away on a brown/orangey beach (*points to colour of plate*). I quietly named him Michelangelo because of the plate colour. XD
Due to the multi-cultural theme of the potluck, every cluster was encouraged to put together "special" dishes from a certain culture. My friend and I kept lobbing back and forth such descriptive gems as "our brownies are an international dish, you can find them anywhere", "our brownies signify the efficiency of Singapore-- fast to cook, good to eat, who has time to spend five hours cooking anymore?" and "these brownies were made from a special recipe passed down from our great-great-great grandmother, Betty Crocker".
Okay, not ours, but I had to take a photo just the same. This dish was put together by another cluster, called "Egg Island". Are you staring at the "coconut tree" yet? Or did the carefully-crafted roses on the top-right corner render you speechless?
All I can say is-- dayyum, thank goodness my cluster wasn't aiming so high as to hope to win a prize for best dish. This would've been our competition!
Okay, now for the random photos:
After a hard day of being a stray, every cat deserves to lie about with a cold can of refreshing Green Tea. :P
I was at the Clementi bus station when I saw this cat just sleeping there on another bench. Nobody even tried to shoo it away, even though there were some people standing who could've used a seat, it was like the cat had just as much right as any human being to sit there (but we all know cats are above us lowly humans anyway).
A Christmas tree in one of the malls along Orchard Road. Just looking at it give you cavities.
I'm no photographer, but I thought this was a pretty cool effect. I probably got it while randomly snapping photos away on the bus (and I really mean "random"... trees, roads, people... fire hydrants...). Shame it's so small.
Something from the washroom on my level. An all-girls toilet. And this is the sort of notice that gets posted.
Kinda breaks the stereotype that girls are the neat-freaks, eh?
Saved the best for last. XD We PGP residents suffer eternally from horrible, constantly-malfunctioning, water-stagnating washing machines. Out of the 20+ washing machines available, only two or three are actually usable-- the rest either stop halfway or already have a deep pool of water forming its own ecosystem in them. Some student had obviously reached his/her limit, because several copies of this was posted at the entrance of the laundry room. It reads:
STOP FLOODING THE WASHING MACHINES!
INSERT ENOUGH COINS!
40c for normal settings!
60c for higher settings!
You guys are University students for Science's sake!
STOP BEING A CHEAPO ASS AND PLEASE INSERT ENOUGH COINS! PLEASE, DAMN IT! I AM BEGGING YOU! PLEASE!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!
Seriously, why would you flood the washing machines? It not only makes others unable to use the washing machines, but it is also very disgusting and it makes drying of your clothes difficult! Would you rather insert more coins for the dryers? Or do you have a fetish for smelly wet disgusting fabric? Please, please, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunately, a friend informed me that the water-stagnation is due to errors occurring within the machines themselves... Still, nice effort.
