seiyuu of the month: voting

I do think it's partially because of the declining popularity of the LJ medium amongst seiyuu fans that the responses aren't so good anymore. But personally speaking, I've only voted a couple of times because there isn't really a theme to the Seiyuu of the Month poll and I really only have that same 2 or 3 seiyuu who are always my favorites. In that case it becomes rather strange to keep voting for the same person.

I quite like the idea suggested by eevaleena above, basing the poll by season and with a more specific focus. For example, in the case of best female/male lead of the season, it'll mean that the winner of the poll probably did a great job in a particular role and I might feel compelled to watch that series if I haven't already. I think doing something like that will help to make the poll more meaningful and interesting for everyone. :)

We can even have something like best singer/best unit every few months or so. It'll help raise the profile of some of them who sing as well.

Hang in there! I'm a little reluctant to see this community dwindle to nothing, so let's try our best.

But if we shift things to a Best Of Season format, I don't think I can be the only one nominating.

I can't watch all the anime in a season and thus I can't know all the seiyuu. Especially new seiyuu. But the SotM poll usually relied on voters to name seiyuu anyway so it was never an issue.

I'm not even a mod here.

wait, am I a mod now? I only did the poll for the most part, not really doing any actual mod stuff.

I was imagining it to have the voters themselves nominating. And it'll require a bit more work, since the voters will have to substantiate with reasons for each nomination. There could be a few categories but people can just nominate those that they have someone in mind, and ignore the other categories.

There are probably a lot of details to iron out, such as how to pick winners and so on. If you feel that it's not worth the effort, then it's fine to just drop the poll entirely.
