Fandom: Young Justice
Characters: Alfred, Wally, Dick
Pairing: Implied Wally/Dick
Summary: Alfred met Wally West for the first time and there's just something about the way Wally looks at Dick.
Master Richard was bringing home a friend today.
To say, Alfred was excited would be an understatement. He was always concerned over the fact that Master Richard never made any real friends. Being Bruce Wayne’s ward and originally from the circus made for a dangerous mix. Children from rich families looked down on him being from the circus, children from normal families were put off by the fact that he was Bruce Wayne’s kid. Add Robin to the equation and Master Richard spent much time playing alone.
So when Master Richard informed him that he was bringing a friend home, Alfred was ecstatic, even if he didn’t outwardly show it. Even better he was bringing Wallace West.
Wallace West or as he was better know to Alfred, Kid Flash. Alfred held a great deal of thanks for the speedster. It had been two years since Master Richard had met Mr. Wallace. Since then, Master Richard always returned home with a story of what he did with Mr. Wallace that day. The distance from Central City to Gotham was nothing to the speedster who had spent every afternoon he could coming over to hang out with his friend. Every conversation about his day that Alfred had with Master Richard, always started with “Wally did this…” or “Today Wally…”.
Just the other day, Master Richard had informed him that he had finally told Mr. Wallace his civilian ID and was planning to bring him over so that Alfred could meet him. Alfred was looking forward to meeting the boy who made the child he consider to be a grandson so happy.
“Alfred!”
Speaking of which, Master Richard had just walked into the kitchen, dragging along a taller redhead boy. “Wally,” Dick said, “This is Alfred. Alfred this is Wally.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Wallace,” Alfred said with a slight bow.
Wally turned a bright red. “Wally is fine,” he said.
“He’s still going to call you Mr. Wallace,” Dick teased. Turning to Alfred, he said. “We’re gonna be up in the entertainment room, Alfred.”
Alfred gave a small nod. The meeting was short, but Alfred already knew that Wallace West was a good kid. Instantly his respect level for him grew immensely.
------------
An hour had passed before Alfred had decided that it was time to check on the boys. He took with him some cookies and two glasses of milk. Quietly he opened the door and was greeted by an adorable sight.
Dick had fallen asleep as the Wall-e movie played on the big screen tv. He had slumped, leaning against Wally’s shoulder. Wally wasn’t watching the movie, he was watching Dick.
Alfred watched the scene carefully. The proud instinct arose. He could see the way Mr. Wallace looked at Master Richard. If only Alfred had brought the camera with him.
“Mr. Wallace,” Alfred softly whispered.
Wally looked up, eyes wide like a deer caught in the headlights. He turned a bright red color.
“I brought milk and cookies. Help yourself to them,” Alfred said, placing the tray on the table next to the couch. Mr. Wallace was certainly a shy boy.
Wally nodded. Alfred quietly left the room, looking back one more time to see Wally return to watching Dick.
“Hmmm,” Alfred said to himself as he closed the door behind him. How cute. Puppy Love. In his opinion, Mr. Wallace would be perfect for Master Richard. But perhaps when they were older. It would also give Alfred time to convince Bruce not to murder the speedster on sight.
Alfred walked away, already making plans for the future. It would be… interesting to see how things come out.
