I'm just loving it more and more, especially now that we've managed to get the thing working on our home wireless network. The initial problems came from our router rather than from the computer, and once we got a new router, things worked out. It took a lot of gnashing of teeth and fiddling with stuff in the network, but eventually it worked. I'll take it.
I've discovered that I can stare at the screen long enough to read all the comments in threads I'm following on people's LJs, and then go read 70 pages of a friend's novel on the same screen without having my eyes trying to crawl out of their sockets. This is a feature my old computer lacked.
I have also discovered that I really like the keyboard size. I hadn't realized just how much more comfortable this one is until I had to go use my computer at work, and... ugh. My hands felt awful. I much prefer using this little guy.
I brought it to work, and the general consensus was "that thing is incredibly tiny and light." For some it was a good thing, for some not. Which is to be expected of any piece of technology. Though I know one teacher who's planning to get one for her kids even though she doesn't like it for herself.
And given that we've effectively managed to get two new laptops for this (including my old one, which is running Ubuntu better than it ever ran Windows, and which is working for
thespooniest used better than it ever worked for me new), this is one of our better purchases. Next up: a CD drive. I've asked my dad for one for Christmas, a small one.
Wheeee. I have a computer I actually like for the first time since I was a kid.
