A while back, I actually sent an email about this. Also a couple of years ago. And the only response their tech people gave me was, "These problems do not occur with paid accounts. You should sign up for a paid account."
This was one of the reasons why I gave up LJ in the first place, back in grad school. Because, run this by me again: your free service is awful, so I should pay for it? Um, no, sorry. Fuck you people.
I hate LJ sometimes. I think I'm going to give the server a little time to itself, because stuff like this seems to happen in phases. I go for a long while when it works fine, and then it screws up for about three weeks, and then is fine again for a long time. So far we're on a week of solid screw-ups.
