The Love You Take is Equal to The Love You Make

That is a sentence I read just now at Neil Gaiman's blog. It sums up pretty much perfectly about his acquaintance with Zoe. A loving friend and family member, who gives so much love to everyone who crosses paths with her and in the end receives so much love and well wishes too. I am writing that with present tense because I believe she is still giving and receiving much much love, although she is no longer with us. The rest is under the cut because of length ^^;

Yes, Zoe is 'only' a cat. But just like someone said, every cat leaves a cat-shaped hole in the hearts of ones who has been touched by their love. As proven by Neil's first entry about her, followed by a funny and cute incidence with her in the second entry, how he--who is allergic to cats--slept with her, twice, and finally, letting her go. How someone flied 2000 miles just to see her, because she may have been the one who supported her best in hard days. Really, this brave little girl touches everyone's hearts.

Including mine.

I have lost several furry family members and I'm currently crying again as I write this. But I think the more people getting touched by Zoe's love, all the better.

And for anybody who gets saddened by her story, here's a poem I snagged from one of the comments of this entry:

And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh yes, quite so, replied the precious soul.
And as a cat, you know I am able to decide most anything for myself.

Are you coming then? asked God
Soon replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me quite certainly.

But don't they understand? asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined? For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is...forever and ever?

Eventually they will understand
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am... Forever and ever and ever

Kyle Cassidy, a photographer, is auctioning a signed print of Zoe and Mr. Gaiman to raise money for City Kitties. See? Zoe is still with us, giving her love.
