Title: An Endless Sonata
Pairing: Baekhyun, Sehun/Kai, Baekhyun/Sehun/Kai
Rating: R
Summary: Three friends find themselves together even behind closed lids. When sleep becomes addicting, at the same time horrifying. It's not just a disorder.

"Deep in the meadow, under the willow.
A bed of grass, a soft green pillow.
Lay down your head, and close your eyes.
And when they open, the sun will rise."
            -Katniss, The Hunger Games

Baekhyun | Sehun | Kai

Baekhyun throws a crumpled piece of paper at Jongin's back before he can finally doze off to sleep. He jumps up in surprise and knocks off his leg underneath his desk. He yelps in pain and immediately covers his mouth after understanding that he's still in class. He straightens up and Sehun, who obviously has just been watching him next to him, shifts his gaze to the board where their current teacher has been writing down the new math equation for today.

"Don't sleep." Baekhyun hisses from behind him and Jongin rubs the back of his neck where the paper has probably bounced back.

"I'm trying." He sneaks in a reply facing his back and quickly facing forward again before his teacher could call his attention. He can't blame him though. There are large patches of black underneath his eyes as if he hasn't taken any sleep for the past three days and Baekhyun feels sorry if he isn't in the same state. He could hold it longer though.

It's not insomnia. It's not just that. It's not that they can't sleep. They don't want to. Or more like, they shouldn't.

Sehun faces them both, not minding if their teacher would call his name out.

"Jongin needs to sleep. He looks like a big scary panda right now."

Somehow Jongin manages to throw the paper he picks up earlier at him. Sehun is about to say something more when the teacher finally calls him out.

Sehun sighs and he stands up facing the board, reading the problem in 4 seconds before he says the right answer. The teacher acknowledges him and lets him sit. Baekhyun leans back on his chair and sighs as if this has been expected. Jongin on the other hand disapproves and gives him a look.

"Freak." He mutters under his breath. Sehun just rolls his eyes.

"How do you do that?" Jongin finally asks him directly. "Do you offer exclusive pretty boy services to our teacher that she always thinks your answer is correct?" Apparently it's not the first time Sehun has been called out and most likely not the first time he answers correctly either.

"It's called knowledge, Jongin." Sehun points at his brain as the three of them make their way towards the isolated tree at the back of their campus. No one else drop by the place, one because it's at the back of the school, second because it's not that anything beautiful or worthy to be spending some time at. The perfect place for the three of them to be honest.

"You just have to accept the fact that Sehun is really smarter than the both of us, Jongin." Baekhyun smiles at his two friends bickering.

"No. There is clearly something wrong with his brain." Jongin refuses to accept Baekhyun's proposition. "Something is wrong, maybe that's why he can't sleep like any other normal human being."

The other two stop walking.

"That's not a nice thing to say." Baekhyun quirks an eyebrow at him. And Jongin lashes out his tongue on his lip as he just realize what he has said.

"It's not." He says in resignation. "I'm sorry." He ruffles Sehun's hair, unconsciously pulling him closer and they end up walking side by side each other, one arm of Jongin tangled with Sehun's.

It's always like that. They fight all the time but at the end of the day they cling to each other so much that Baekhyun sometimes just cringes away. Sometimes he feels he's a thirdwheel in this relationship.

As they reach the tree, Sehun settles down next to its trunk as he puts his bag down on his lap and Jongin lays his head on it. Baekhyun takes a seat next to Sehun, leaning on the thick tree trunk and spreading his legs in front of him. Its shade is enough to cover the three of them even if they all lie down together. But today is Jongin's time.

"Wake me up in an hour." He says as he covers his face with a cap he takes out from his pocket, lying comfortably on Sehun's lap while Sehun plays with his hair.

Baekhyun tries to ignore the two, partly because Sehun has developed a habit of staring at Jongin's face when he's in deep slumber, another is because he's jealous at how Jongin can take another hour of sleep for the day when his own turn is still on the day after tomorrow. He strecthes out his limbs and looks directly at the gleaming sunlight. His eyes, if only he can rest his eyes without actually falling into a nap. His eyes are tired but what could he do? If they do not follow the rule they imposed on themselves, they might get addicted to it and it's only gonna be dangerous to the three of them. Very dangerous.

"I wonder what he's dreaming of right now?" Sehun's voice pierces Baekhyun's thoughts and for a moment he's thankful for pulling him away from the agonizing thought of if only he could sleep. Until he realizes he's asking him about Jongin.

"Oh. Probably anything about you." He answers nonchalantly, leaning back with his palms pressed on the grass. Sehun turns red at that, not expecting Baekhyun to notice it.

Baekhyun feels the silence and he turns his head to him. "You like him, don't you? You actually like each other." He grins.

"I'm surprised that you haven't said anything to your bestfriend here." He nods a bit in thought, talking about himself. "I'm just waiting for you guys to open up."

"He..." Sehun bows his head in embarrassment. "He hasn't said anything to me."

Baekhyun considers him for a moment. "Have you?"

The younger boy in question bites his lower lip. "I have." He confesses.

It gives Baekhyun a little shock. He looks at the covered face of Jongin again.

"What an idiotic Jongin."

"I'm not really expecting a response." Sehun says matter-of-factly. "I just want him to know."

Baekhyun nods and gives him a soft smile. "Don't worry. I'm sure he likes you back."

"He likes teasing me." Sehun pouts at the difference between his judgement and Baekhyun's.

"He teases you because he likes you." Baekhyun says it slowly for Sehun to grasp. He nods in assurance before he turns to give Sehun some time to smile to himself. Sometimes, when his life sucks so much, his friends just light it up.

"Aaaaaah." Jongin lets out a loud sigh of contentment as the three of them head back to school after they have woken him up. "I feel so fresh." He slings an arm on both Sehun and Baekhyun's shoulders.

"Don't waste your energy, stupid." Sehun comments as Jongin's arm just rests comfortably on his shoulder.

Jongin retreats his hand from Baekhyun and clings lazily to Sehun with his both arms. "Aaah, you're just jealous. Don't worry Oh Sehun. You'll have your chance tomorrow." He pats him on the back before releasing him.

"Looks like you had a good dream." Baekhyun teases him slightly. With that, Jongin stops abruptly and blushes. But he recovers soon enough and is already grinning when he says,

"Yeah. It was a really nice dream."

No one will be able to understand how these three get past a day without sleeping. According to their rule, only one person can sleep for an hour per day. Jongin just had his time, and Sehun will have his the next day. They limit their sleep for an hour or they might slip out of their control and fall asleep waiting for the other to wake up. How they stay awake is also a mystery to the three of them. They just talk the whole night, sometimes about their past lives, most of the time about Jongin's crazy scary stories in which Sehun would always shake in fear and Jongin would have to wrap an arm around him the whole night while Baekhyun keeps reminding him that it's all his fault. When they're tired of ghost stories, they just sit and talk about what their future would be. In all honesty, they all come a blur to them. They don't think they'll last long with their condition after all.

They have a sleeping disorder that's too far-fetched that even science hasn't yet discovered a name for it. It's close to hypersomnia where one sleeps excessively and extends it for a longer while than the usual. But in their case, it's more alarming than that. They sleep and don't wake up anymore until they're actually forced to, or an external energy makes them. It's a disorder that's dangerous to test out. They believe it's in the genes, because all three of them haven't actually known what the real cause of their parents' deaths are. Maybe theirs were still tolerable before, and the one that the three of them have now is the worst case. They would never know.

They only found each other through their disorders as well. It isn't just a simple endless sleep for them. But when they all fall asleep together, they meet in their dreams. They talk, they walk, they run, they eat and they play even in their dreams. Everything seems real and they can't distinguish which is real life and which is not. This is why they don't dare sleep at the same time. They're pulled in so strongly that there is a possibility for them to be trapped inside their own heads and live alone in there, with imaginary scenes and friends. It's addicting, they can all attest to that. It's paradise there in their heads, but it's all unreal, untrue. And no matter how tempting it is to live in their dreams, it will only mean giving up their lives. It's being sickly stupid, in Baekhyun's terms.

So they decide to stick together and look out for each other. When one sleeps, the other two watch him and wake him up to save him. It's been a cycle, and they're getting used to it.

"Don't we have anything else to do today?" Jongin complains while he sits on the floor, throwing the last piece of cracker in his hand to his mouth. They don't have couches and sofas and beds in their house. When they decided to live together, they also sold all the things that invite them to sleep. Hence they always just lie on the floor and tells stories to keep each other awake.

"What do you suggest we do?" Sehun teasingly displays his cracker in front of Jongin's eyes before pulling it back and eating it.
Baekhyun moves from the floor and uncovers the little white keyboard at the side. He plugs it in and dips a finger on one key. A high-pitched note echoes in the room.

"Oh, Baekhyun is going to show us his talent." Jongin straightens up and mocks him. Baekhyun always plays the piano when they're bored.

Baekhyun gives him a look. "I actually came up with my own composition you know."

"Really? Let's hear it then." Sehun gives him an encouraging smile.

Baekhyun flexes his fingers before hovering them upon the white keys. "Actually I was thinking of us when I made it." He smiles sheepishly and rubs the back of his head.

"Just play it Baekhyun." Jongin orders and Sehun shoves his cracker in his friend's mouth.

Baekhyun heaves a deep breath and he starts.

It begins in a soft melody, where his finger lightly brushes the keys, into a powerful one in the middle where the pace picks up, then it slows down as it nears the end, each note vibrating in their ears as it tugs down their hearts and their lives play out in front of them. The message of the melody is clear.

Through hardships and sufferings, life continues on.
Never will I stop just there, I will carry on.
With you, I will go on.
Like the river that flows in you, we will keep moving on.
♫ River flows in you, Yiruma

He ends with the last note and he stops, resting his hands on his lap. He looks forward, unaware of the two watching him.
Sehun claps and Baekhyun is pulled back to the present.

"Wow." Is all Sehun could say. "You're pretty good." He stares in awe.

Jongin shuts his open mouth with his hand for him. "Well, nice piece right there!" He gives him a thumbs up.

Sehun looks at Baekhyun lovingly. "I take it back. You're probably the best!" He nods powerfully.

Jongin chuckles at Sehun's expression. Baekhyun turns a shade of pink at his friends' reactions. "It's not so clean yet."

"You can probably be an artist someday." Jongin approves. And then he regrets it when Baekhyun's face changes. He has forgotten that it is Baekhyun's dream. But a dream he has long given up due to his condition. He isn't in the right form to dream big.

"Who knows?" Jongin amends but it's too late. Baekhyun is already staring on the floor.

"You know it will never happen." He sighs resentfully. Sehun nudges Jongin in the ribs before walking to his friend.

He wraps an arm around him. "It's okay Baekhyun. We all know you have what it takes to be one. You've just proven it!" He beams up at him.

"What's important is that we're still here and we could all witness each other's achievement, right?"

Baekhyun's mood lightens up. "Yeah. I'm really grateful for the two of you."

"Aww." Sehun hugs his friend tighter. "Come on, Jongin. Don't be a dick there."

Jongin sticks out his tongue before standing up and joining them. He envelops his two friends in a huge embrace.

To Baekhyun, what matters the most now is that he can keep his two most precious friends with him. That's all it takes for him to continue living.

"What I still don't understand is how Sehun looks at a question and the next thing we know, he has already calculated everything in his head and is giving a correct answer."

Another cycle has gone and it's now Sehun's turn. Jongin still hasn't given up wondering about Sehun's ability in math. He stays still as he complains though because Sehun is just sleeping soundly on his shoulder.

Baekhyun couldn't help but laugh at his friend. "Like what he tells you, it's knowledge Kim Jongin." He returns to playing with the grass.

"Weird." Jongin says.

"Aren't you too fascinated by Sehun?" Baekhyun leans back and puts his hands behind his back as he rests his upper body on the tree trunk, their usual spot.

"More like weirded out." Jongin answers with a sweeping glance at the angelic sleeping face of his friend.

Baekhyun turns to him, resting his arms on his knees. "Say it, Jongin. Why didn't you tell him you like him too when he confessed to you?"

Jongin, to Baekhyun's amusement, almost stands up and walks away of embarrassment. But he couldn't, else Sehun will fall. So he just looks away from Baekhyun.

"Did he tell you..." He asks silently. "Or were you watching us that time pretending to sleep?"

So it happened when he has been sleeping. Baekhyun registers Sehun's hopeful face in his mind before answering him. "He told me."

Jongin sighs. "So did he tell you... what I told him?"

Baekhyun shakes his head. He isn't aware there's more to the story. With that confirmation from Baekhyun, Jongin sighs in relief.

"What?" The other catches up. "What did you say then?"

Jongin ignores him for a while. Baekhyun pokes him. And he keeps poking his side until he has had enough.

Jongin tries to stop his laughter. "Stop. He's sleeping." He guides Sehun's head gently back to a more stable part of his shoulder. Baekhyun waits for his revelation.

"I told him," Jongin hesitates and blurts out quickly. "Thatifwebecomeofficial whatwouldhappentoyou? IsaidIdontwantyou tofeelleftoutso..." He pauses and doesn't continue anymore.

"What?" For a second Baekhyun thinks Kai has learned a new language given he has a lot of time in his hands but figures he can't possibly have. So he asks him to repeat it.

Jongin gives him a look that says 'are you really asking me to say it again?' Baekhyun just raises an eyebrow to say 'yes'. The younger obliges unwillingly.

"I just said that I don't want you to feel left out if... if we focus on each other. There. Are you happy? Feeling special?" He rolls his eyes to hide the fact that he feels embarrassed by having to say cheesy stuff especially in front of Baekhyun. He loves his friend, but it's hard for him to be serious in front of them.

However, his last words don't seem to have reached Baekhyun's ears as he smiled widely at him. "Did you just say you love me indirectly?"

Jongin blushes. He knows Baekhyun knows it's that kind of love and not that other kind he has probably reserved for Sehun, but it still embarrasses him.

"Aww. Kim Jongin, I love you too." Baekhyun flings his arms around Jongin, forgetting that Sehun is still sleeping beside him. He hugs him tight and knocks Sehun off accidentally, waking him up as he thuds on the ground. He stirs, it's almost been an hour anyway.

He sits up and sees Baekhyun and Jongin freeze in front of him. One arm of Baekhyun on Jongin's neck.

"What is going on?" He asks sleepily as he rubs his eyes. Baekhyun quickly lets go.

"Nothing." He grins innocently. "Good morning."

"Hmm." Sehun grunts groggily and looks at his friends suspiciously. "If something is happening behind my back, I swear you guys I will find out." He threatens.

Jongin flicks his nose. "That's for sleeping on my shoulder and giving me a stiff muscle." He laughs as he rubs his shoulder. Sehun's nose turns bright red. Baekhyun laughs at his face and Sehun joins in.

As they head back, Baekhyun purposely walks behind to match up Jongin's pace. He looks at him knowingly.

"You should give him an answer soon." He pats him on the back before walking back to Sehun's side not waiting for Jongin's response and slinging an arm at his friend. Nothing else makes his day.

It takes all their strength to cope with school. None of them speak of what they would do after high school. College seems highly impossible and difficult for them as well as getting a stable job after just graduating from secondary school. They're weeks away from it and they still haven't planned to which level are they planning to bring their lives next. Living together is always the only thing that seems to keep them entertained, apart from that, life for them seems rubbish.

"I would probably live alone when I get older and have no kids." Jongin stretches his arms up to reach the ceiling as he lies down on his back on the floor of their house.

"I don't think I'd want kids too." Sehun scratches the back of his pencil eraser on his chin as he tries to solve the extreme level of his sudoku pocket book.

Baekhyun hugs his knees to his chest as he contemplates on it too. He definitely won't have any kids, not when they can possibly inherit his strange illness. "Maybe we're going to grow up together and have grey old hair together."

Sehun pauses at this idea. "Seems legit. Except that Jongin's hair will probably fall off to the extent that he'll have no hair left."

"You think!? If I grow up with the most hair among the three of us, you two will have to shave your heads off willingly or not. Deal?" Jongin crosses his arms to his chest.

"Deal!" Sehun exclaims while Baekhyun shakes his head.

"So that means you're all willing to spend your lives together?" He asks out of mere curiosity. But his two friends just give him an incredulous look.

"You mean our lives together?" Jongin clears it. Sehun beams.

"You'll be unfair if you leave yourself out, we're all in this together." Sehun inclines his head a little to the side.

Baekhyun's heart is going to burst but he stops it. "Yeah, you're right. I'm in for the chaotic life ahead of me."

From then on, the three of them swear on their future graves that they will stick with each other until their last breath.

"Don't you think Baekhyun stresses himself so much over us?" Sehun asks worriedly as he watches Baekhyun sleep in between them, his head on Sehun's lap while his legs rest on Jongin's, making a little gap between him and Sehun.

"He thinks about us a lot forgetting about himself in the process." Jongin shakes his head. He has always been a special friend.
"Sometimes I think of what to say to him to make him feel better. He just randomly sulks on his own you know? He tries to hide it but I can see it." Sehun sighs at his friend who's oblivious to their conversation right now. His head tilts to the side a bit where one cheek is resting on Sehun's lap comfortably.

It leads Jongin to what Baekhyun advised him that one day. Maybe if he follows him it will lift one load off of his shoulder. Whether he does it for him or for himself, it doesn't matter. He knows he wants it too.

"Sehun." Jongin starts and Sehun shifts his gaze from Baekhyun's face to Jongin.

"Hm?"

"Uh, you know." He finds for the right words to say. It's suddenly harder than he thought it would be. "That day when you were asleep."

Sehun blinks at him, waiting patiently at what he has to say.

"Well. Baekhyun told me something." He unconsciously pats Baekhhyun's legs placed on his thighs. "But I'm not doing this because he told me to. I just..." He fidgets on his seat.

He inhales a lot of air and exhales deeply before going on. "I think I still owe you a response. For that... that thing you told me before."

"Oh." Sehun bites his lips. So Baekhyun probably told him to say something.

"Well." Jongin gulps. He doesn't know what makes him nervous. The only person who could witness it apart from Sehun is sleeping right before them. Or maybe it's Sehun. "You already know how I feel." He dismisses the idea of confessing, it's too hard. He decides to just beat around the bush.

"I honestly don't." Sehun looks down. "I could assume. But... but it's a lot more complicated to do so." He mumbles silently as he stares at anything but Jongin.

The older of them stays silent for a few heartbeats while he battles with himself in his head as to how he'll break it to him. In the end, he just recalls Baekhyun's encouraging nod and speaks. "I like you." The words hang in the air like a droplet of water that freezes in a cold winter wind and turns into frost. "I like you too, Sehun."

Like a frost that drops onto Sehun's palm and melts on his warmth and gently seeps into his skin. It sends a tickling chill to his spine.

"So does this mean," Sehun asks with little doubt but Jongin cuts him off.

"I guess we're officially together now but I have something to ask of you." He looks directly at him, slowly feeling confident.

"What is it?"

"Let's not leave Baekhyun and let him feel more loved than before."

Sehun beams brightly. It's exactly the same thing he'd ask him for.

With a little nod, Jongin reaches out for his hand. And they let the rest of the minutes pass focusing on how their fingers intertwine and their fingertips brush the top of their palms. Baekhyun wakes up to a very cheerful Sehun and Jongin who give him a hug the first thing when he opens his eyes.

Maybe it's the way Sehun smiles more often that makes Baekhyun suspicious. Or maybe it's how Jongin, very surprisingly, stops asking about how Sehun could manage to answer a math problem in mere seconds repeatedly. Or maybe it's just how each of them radiate a strong energy towards each other that Baekhyun finds out that something is definitely going on.

"When you two hide it, it just makes me sad." Baekhyun props up his face in between his hands and pouts.

His two friends look at each other before grinning at him.

"Who says we're hiding it?" Jongin places an arm around Sehun's neck and brings him closer. The other just giggles.

Baekhyun sulks more. "I didn't hear anything from you."

"That's because..." Jongin looks at Sehun for help.

"We want you to notice." Sehun smiles guiltily as Jongin interlaces his fingers with him.

Baekhyun smiles contently. "So you two are now in a more intimate relationship?"

"You can say that." Sehun nods. He reaches for Baekhyun's hand. The older looks up in question but Sehun has slipped his fingers into his too. He happily raises both his hands.

"I have the best people with me." He cries as Jongin gives him an approving look. Baekhyun blinks, touched while his heart warms. They don't fail to make him feel that he belongs with them.

One afternoon Baekhyun and Jongin set off to their favorite spot together, Sehun says he'll go after them in a few. They reach the tree and it's Jongin's turn this time. Before going, he waits a little more for Sehun to come around but he hasn't come. Baekhyun tells him to just take a nap and he'll look out for Sehun instead. Jongin feels something is wrong but he pushes it to the back of his mind as he lays on the soft green grass. Without a second has passed, he's already pulled into a deep sleep.

Baekhyun watches Jongin from time to time but he seems to be sleeping peacefully. He waits for Sehun to come but it's almost half past an hour and he still hasn't come back. He thinks of calling him but his phone is deep inside his bag where Jongin is lying on. Trying not to think too much, he lets himself wander off to his own thoughts.

If he only has the money time and strength, he'd try to look for the best doctor who can find a cure to their sickness. He can't stand seeing his friends suffer with him and being contented with this state they're in as if it's not going to cause them any problem soon. He can't let his friends feel the same pain it inflicts on him, all the time. If only he is much smarter and much stronger, he would study on his own and discover what's wrong in their system and finally find a solution to the said problem. If only. Baekhyun lives in if only's. If only he couldn't just say if only and makes it happen in real life. If only.

He notices it's been past an hour and so he wakes Jongin up. That's when he starts to get worried about Sehun.

"Jongin." He shakes the sleeping body in front of him. "Jongin wake up."

After a few more tries, Jongin opens his eyes.

"Jongin, Sehun isn't here yet." The worry in his voice more evident than ever. Jongin jumps up awake.

"Sehun." He says to himself as if waking himself up. "Sehun. He's asleep somewhere. He was with me in my dream. Or his dream. I don't know which it is." He panics.

Baekhyun gasps and slaps a hand to his mouth. "We need to find him."

They both run back to the school, pleading that wherever Sehun might be, they hope he's somewhere safer.

They've looked into their classroom, the hallway, the restrooms, but Sehun is nowhere.

"We clearly haven't looked at everywhere yet." Baekhyun says without giving up. Jongin is just nearly going crazy.

"Where else should we look?" He sounds hysterical. Baekhyun fears the tone in his voice. He always fears hearing his friends in pain.

"The library. We haven't yet." Baekhyun pulls him hurriedly.

"Why would he be here--"

Jongin stops once they barge on the big glass doors of the library and sees a familiar figure sleeping at the back. He lets go of Baekhyun's hand and runs to where Sehun is, slumped on a desk with a book open in front of him.
Jongin shakes him up violently and Sehun stirs up, surprise in his eyes.

"What do you think ARE YOU DOING?!" Jongin practically yells at him and he doesn't care whether the librarian would kick him out or not. He grabs tightly at Sehun's collar, completely enraged and more importantly worried. Baekhyun stops him and Jongin reluctantly lets go. Sehun is speechless.

"We thought something bad happened to you." Baekhyun fills him in, calm and relieved but he can't deny how hard his heart beat as they ran to find him.

Jongin turns away in anger, trying to hide the tears forming in the corners of his eyes.

"I'm so--sorry." Sehun stutters, slowly understanding what's the commotion. "I didn't know I would fall into a nap."

"Don't do that again." Baekhyun says firmly.

Sehun nods apologetically.

"I'm sorry Jongin."

"Don't go alone when you can't control it. Why would you go alone anyway?" He speaks in a low voice with his back turned. He's calming down now but still a little mad at the situation.

"I tried solving it." Sehun answers truthfully, holding a little piece of paper that belongs to Jongin. "The little challenge you gave me."

Jongin turns to him, gritting his teeth at the sight of the long equation he wrote on a piece of paper he copied from an advanced calculus book to tease Sehun and trick him into solving it. Something inside him aches as he looks at Sehun's innocent face. He grabs the paper from his hand and tears it into pieces. His guilt washing him up.

"It was a joke Sehun." He slams his fist on the desk, the torn papers flying everywhere. "Why can't you distinguish a joke from the real one?" His nose flares and he doesn't know if his anger is directed towards Sehun or himself.

"I'm sorry." Sehun bows his head low, the impact of what he had done hits him.

Jongin softens at that. He crouches down to his eye level and hugs him tight. "I'm sorry too." Jongin runs a hand through his hair and rubs his back. "Don't go missing like that again. At least ask us to go with you."

"I'm sorry." Sehun buries his face into the crook of his neck. Baekhyun walks closer to them and pats Sehun on the head.

That's when Baekhyun realizes, they can't continue living every single day like this. One day they'll slip and it will cost them something big. One day everything will turn bad. The future holds nothing but pain for them.

Baekhyun, Sehun and Kai gather outside their house as they lay down on the rough pavement, watching the stars and the constellations. They lie down with their heads forming into a circle as they spread their bodies on the ground.

"One day we'll be able to reach the stars." Jongin foolishly claims.

"Oh yeah, and I will own the sun." Sehun giggles beside him. Baekhyun did not fail to notice how their fingers intertwine when they reach upwards for the stars. He smiles to himself.

"Baekhyun, you should dream for the Moon." Sehun adds.

Baekhyun looks at the moon. It's full moon today and it's beautiful. "Alright! One day we'll be the moon, the sun and the stars."

"Yes!" Answer the two.

After minutes of silence, Baekhyun suits himself into staring at the moon. He wonders how it is to be up there. Is it cold? Is it empty? Is it lonely? He looks up. Maybe not as lonely down where he lays. The stars glisten in the dark night sky. And the sun peeks over the horizon, painting the sky orange-ish. This is his favorite time of the day. Where the three of the entities can be seen in one. He looks up brightly as the day welcomes them again into a new repeating one. Maybe Baekhyun is tired or he's just rather too used to it that he feels like not welcoming the day. Maybe, just maybe he doesn't mind not seeing it anymore. He closes his eyes, but not enough for him to fall asleep. He knows beside him, Sehun and Jongin are having their own time anyway.

Jongin hovers Sehun's face slightly as the sun rises and the day stretches out in front of them. He kisses him silently as he brushes his thumb on his smooth cheek. Sehun closes his eyes at his touch and kisses him back. Lips against lips, tongue against tongue, sometimes with a mix of lips against tongue and tongue against lips. Jongin pulls away for a bit to stare at Sehun's face before saying "You're the only one I see when I close my eyes." And with that they welcome the morning with another tender kiss.

Baekhyun pulls them out of the house the night after. It's dawn and the two have no idea as to where Baekhyun is leading them to.

"Just make it fast!" Baekhyun hurries them up. They've walked a long while before they realize where he has actually brought them to.

The tree behind the school campus. Their favorite place.

"What's up?" Sehun questions as Baekhyun lies on his back under the tree. The two follow him.

"Just watch the sky." He smiles.

The three of them look up in anticipation. They lay next to each other so close that they can feel their calm heartbeats together. Jongin lays beside Sehun's left while Baekhyun lays beside his right. They all wait and watch.

"In a moment." Baekhyun warns them.

And there it is, a beautiful meteor shower right before their eyes.

"Wow."

Sehun's eyes widens and Jongin clasps his hands onto his.

"Make a wish."

Jongin whispers and the three of them close their eyes for a second. Sehun reaches out for Baekhyun's hand and suddenly, Baekhyun feels warm for the first time in days.

When the shower has stopped, Baekhyun sits up.

"What did you guys wish for?"

Jongin and Sehun speak at the same time.

"For us to be together forever." They laugh when they realize they wished for the same thing.

"What's yours Baekhyun?" Jongin asks happily.

"The same thing." Baekhyun grins. He falls onto his back and lays with them.

The sun is creeping up now, slowly emitting the orange-ish color above the sky. The best part of the day for Baekhyun. He looks up at the moon, the sun and the stars. They shine upon them together. He couldn't help not imagining the three heavenly bodies as them and he blames Jongin for that.

"How long do we plan to stay like this?" Sehun asks while they turn silent as they watch the breaking dawn. They know he isn't asking just about today, but for the rest of their lives.

"I don't know either." Jongin replies with a sigh as the cracking dawn takes place in front of their eyes.

"I know of a place..." Baekhyun hesitates. The two turn to him. "It's a place where you wont have to worry. Just enjoy yourself and relax, be happy, unlike here." He muses.

A serious look land on both Sehun and Jongin. They both know the place he's talking about.

"But you know," he shrugs. "You don't have to come with me there." The oldest adds the last bit with a reassuring smile.

"Are you joking?" Jongin asks him, breath blowing the hair on his eyes.

Sehun picks up. "Have you forgotten, together forever?"

Baekhyun's eyes darkens. Do they really want this?

"But you won't be able to grow old and have grey hair together." He tells them.

"Maybe we don't really care about that." Sehun tightens his hold on both their hands. "Maybe we only care about us three being together."

Baekhyun gives them a look. If they do it there's no turning back.

"Won't you regret it?"

Jongin speaks this time. "What is there to regret when I know I stuck to my promise." That they will stick together until their last breath.

Baekhyun tears up.

"You guys know that I love you right?" He asks, laughing slightly as tears roll down from his eyes.

"You're always the cheesiest one but yes, we love you." Jongin counters him but laughs all the same.

"I love you two." Sehun hugs their hands to his chest.

"On the count of three? Together." Baekhyun looks at his friends' faces intently. He will never forget these faces.

"Together." Jongin and Sehun answer.

Jongin leans up to give Sehun a short kiss. A smile appears on the latter's face contently, mirroring the other. Baekhyun turns his body towards him, hugging him in the middle, and so did Jongin. They all hold hands and rest their heads on each other.

On the count of three, together, they all went to sleep.
