"You got hit by a bus."

The gears in Kai's brain were all suddenly activated and he could hear the mechanism in his head.

"A bus? Wasn't it a truck?"

They all looked quizzically at each other.

"Kai." One said worriedly.

"I think he hit his head too hard." Someone from the back said.

Suho eyed him nervously. He stepped forward and felt, really carefully, Kai's forehead that's wrapped in bandages.

"Kai, I think you need to rest first. You've been asleep for three-"

"Three years." Kai gasped in a whisper, the horror reflecting in his eyes.

"What?" Chanyeol mirrored the same horrified expression.

"Are you sure the doctor said he'll be okay? I think he's currently in delirium." Kyungsoo added, sticking his hand on his wrapped head as well.

"You've only been asleep for three days Kai." Baekhyun informed him almost calmly, although looking worried too.

"Kai. It was a bus. You got hit by a bus after running after Sehun that night. Your anniversary, remember?"

Suho said patiently as if waiting for Kai to catch up.

Anniversary. What did they mean? Was he back to that day? That terrifying day? Kai couldn't put two and two together as he glanced at each of his friends carefully, looking for a sign that they're pulling a prank on him. But the worry etched on their faces told him negative.

He was hit by a bus the night of their anniversary. He recalled.

His eyes grew large in horror as he remembered the next events.

"Where's Sehun?" He panicked.

Silence passed between the other four and Kai's suspicion was getting more confirmed, and worse. The pain that hasn't fully left him slapped him in full swing again.

"Sehun is..." Baekhyun looked at Chanyeol for help.

"Kai. Sehun is..." Kyungsoo trailed off as he stared at Suho.

Suho put a comforting hand on Kai's shoulder.

"Kai."

"Where's Sehun?!" Kai almost yelled, tears brimming in his eyes.

And then the door burst open, revealing Sehun who looked as if he saw a disgusting ghost. His nose was red, his cheeks flushed furiously, and his eyes were obviously swollen. They were staring intently at Kai as if burning his face.

"You!" He pointed an accusing finger.

Sehun stormed towards Kai's bed while the other four almost scrambled away at his rage.

Kai was stunned to see Sehun at the doorway and before he could even utter a word, Sehun was already on top of his bed, yelling at him.

"Is this all a part of your cruel plan too?! Get hit by a bus and stay asleep for three fucking days without even telling me you're just kidding?! You got me so fucking worried I swear I want to punch you so hard right now but you're still wounded I don't know what to do with you anymore!!! You selfish selfish bastard!!!!! I hate you so fucking much!!!"

Sehun clutched at Kai's collar and pushed him away hard. He repeatedly hit the area just above Kai's shoulders until there were tears in Sehun's eyes. He choked back a sob and pushed Kai back with his struggling hands.

Kai received all his overwhelming anger wordlessly, willing himself to be manhandled by the only person he wanted to hug the most.

When Sehun seemed to be just crying in front of him, Kai allowed his arms to encircle around Sehun's lean figure.

"I'm so glad you're fine."

Sehun only buried his head in the crook of Kai's neck.

"Stop all your bullshit. You ruined our anniversary." He clutched at his shirt.

Kai exhaled deeply, relieved that everything was back to normal. More than normal, as he was reminded how Sehun is dying to stab him with a knife out of rage.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry for breaking up with you. I didn't know this will happen. I always fail don't I?"

"You stupid stupid Kim Jongin."

Kai tightened the embrace and he felt all his limbs ache at the force he's exerting but he didn't care.

"I had a very bad dream." He started, sudden tears gushing out of his eyes. "A dream I want to forget."

"What was it?" Sehun answered absentmindedly, trying to push away all the worry he had kept with him for the past days. He kept talking though, because he wanted to be assured that Kai is alive.

"You hated me. And you were pushing me away."

Sehun inched closer and hugged Kai back harder. "But it was the other way around."

Kai loosened his arms around Sehun while Sehun pushed back to face Kai. His face was glistening with tears under the hospital light but Sehun didn't bother wiping them away.

"I thought I already lost you. I thought you were leaving me."

"The doctor said you're a miracle Kai." It was then that Kai realized his friends were still watching their dramatic scene. He looked up at Baekhyun who spoke.

"A miracle?" Kai echoed.

Baekhyun nodded.

"Your body gave up last night. The doctors already lost hope. Sehun kept calling your name but you were fading away." Baekhyun's voice was steady but his eyes were soft.

"You stopped breathing... and you went away. Far away, Kai. We lost you last night. But Sehun didn't want to let you go. He didn't want you to leave." A small smile appeared on Baekhyun's face.

"As if your body could understand Sehun's grief, you breathed again. As if you didn't want to go too. You fought your own death, Kai. It was a miracle. It was as if you resurrected. Because Sehun believed you won't leave us. Because Sehun believed in you."

Understanding dawned on Kai. That time he saw the flame in his chest die down, it was his life. It was his body giving up. But his head didn't want to. More importantly, his heart didn't want to. Not as long as Sehun didn't want him to.

"A resurrection." The word escaped Kai's lips like thin air.

"God wants you to be with me for a longer time. He wants us to be happy together."

Sehun traced the skin on Kai's cheek as he whispered the words.

"Please don't scare me that way again."

Kai tugged Sehun softly by the elbow.

"I promise, never again."

And he sealed the promise with a simple lingering kiss.

Sehun poked Kai's shoulder with a little force.

"Ouch."

Sehun pouted. "You're still not fully healed."

"Yeah, I'm still not." Kai acted as if he was badly hurt which resulted to Sehun shoving him harder where he cried out a real 'ouch'.

"When can I take your payment, you still owe me a free punch in your face." Sehun reminded him while he peered from behind his shoulder, bent to his level where Kai was seated by the table.

"I'm sorry but you have to wait a few more days before you can touch me." Kai wiggled his eyebrows teasingly, knowing well that his statement was untrue. Just the other night, he continued the post-anniversary gift he promised to Sehun secretly after his release in the hospital. The one that involved the inside of his room and his comfy bed. He didn't seem to have a problem moving his muscles then.

Sehun knew he's been healed, but he let it pass. He kinda liked it when Kai acts like a little kid wanting to be taken care of.

"What are you doing?" Sehun pressed his chin on Kai's shoulder while he stared at the notebook laid on the table.

"I'm writing."

Kai was perfectly fine having Sehun pressing himself on his supposed to be sore muscles.

"Oh, about what?"

"About a person making a terrible mistake which almost cost his own and the one he love's lives."

"Oh."

"I'm going to call it Resurrection."

"Why's that?"

"Because in the end, the lead wakes up after he came back to life. Realizing everything that happened was all just in his head. And that he's given the second chance to correct his mistakes. The right way."

Sehun let out a smile.

"You're really serious about it, huh?"

He stood from his position and sat on Kai's lap without warning, plopping himself comfortably on the unavailable space on the chair. He glanced down at Kai's notes.

"Is this really your dream?"

After the accident, Kai woke up to the reality that he can't live without having a dream of his own. When he said before that he'll only follow wherever Sehun goes, he realized it wasn't exactly a dream. It was a privilege. A dream is something he wanted to pursue, just as how Suho and Baekhyun took their father’s businesses, or Chanyeol taking up photography, or Kyungsoo going for culinary. So he thought it over, overnight. And there he realized what his passion was. It was in the field of writing.

"Yeah." Kai nodded thoughtfully.

Sehun nodded. "Well, I've always thought you had it in you. Seeing how much you wanted a twisted dramatic effect in everything you do."

He glared at him for a moment before laughing. Kai turned a shade of pink.

Sehun lifted himself up and crouched to Kai's eye level.

"I'm really glad He gave you back to me."

The words filled Kai's heart in happiness.

"I'm really glad you can only punch like a kid."

He responded with a grin before he stood abruptly and started to run away from Sehun.

"Seriously, Kim Jongin! I will drive my own bus and hit you harder than that!" Sehun shouted from across the room when Kai had darted out the door.

"Ugh. This is why I hate this guy." Sehun huffed and crossed his arms. He glanced back down at the draft Kai had written.

Resurrection is the act of bringing something back to life.

And Sehun is my resurrection.

Sehun sighed.

"It's also why I love him this much."

3 months later.

"Hurry up, Kai. My mom's already waiting at the airport."

Kai appeared from his bedroom door, tucking his electronic notebook into his bag.

"Still not giving up on the book you're writing?" Sehun ran his fingers through Kai's hair to fix it.

"Nope. I thought maybe I could write again while we're out for a vacation in China."

"Suit yourself then." Sehun patted his collar neatly before kissing him on the cheek.

"By the way." Sehun checked his watch. "My mom said her Chinese friend's son's going to pick us up right now and he'll be coming with us to China."

"Ah." Kai mumbled while he zipped his bag. The doorbell rang and Sehun came to take it.

"Kai, he's here."

Kai rushed to the door and fixed his hair before his eyes fell to a tall guy standing in front of their doorway. He had blond-ish hair and boyish yet manly facial features.

Kai's eyes widened.

"He's my mom's friend's son." Sehun smiled up at the new friend.

"Hi."

The guy greeted.

"My name's Kris Wu. It's nice to meet you."

-The End-

I'm actually very amused at this comment because she had the correct assumptions. First part, Shixun as Sehun's twin is actually supposed to be all for show in Sehun's revenge plan, second part, Shixun is Sehun, and third part, it's all in Kai's head. I wanted to tell her everything is correct, lol.

Thank you so much for patiently waiting and reading til the end! I love you guys! ♥ Don't brick me.

resurrection, kai, sehun, sekai
