Title: Resurrection
Rating: PG
Pairing: Sehun/Kai
Summary: A piercing scream, a loud honk, a powerful crash... did he come back to life?
Resurrection is the act of coming back to life. One who has met death once is said to resurrect when he rises from the dead and into a new life. Its concept is highly religious and it is a belief that follows the Christian idealism.
As a historical event, Christians believe that Christ has risen from the tomb three days after his death. This has been the focal point of Christianity, its central focus. Though it takes a lot to believe, Christians have a strong faith in the resurrection of Christ.
Does it happen in modern life? Can a person come back to life just as the Lord has?
"But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith."
1 Corinthians 15:12-14
If you came back, would you rather choose a new life?

Kai stepped foot in the restaurant he clearly indicated in the message he sent very early in the morning. He grinned.
Meet me in Crowne Diamond at 6 in the evening. I've already made the arrangements and reservation. You're up to the biggest surprise of your life. See you.
PS. I'll just tell you later.
Kai was dressed up really well. His hair was pushed back a little and his collar seemed just tight enough around his neck, along with the tie Chanyeol had his eyes on for 5 minutes but lost to Kai in just a second.
It's finally a year. Their first anniversary and Kai had planned the whole night really well, avoiding meeting Sehun just before the time he told him to meet him in the restaurant, until he could crack the surprise he had for him at the right time. He knew Sehun will not take it easily, heck he'll probably get a beating some time later, but it will be just as perfect as it should be before the night ends. He planned this so well he memorized everything he has to say and do.
Kai stood at the door, sweeping a glance over the table he reserved just for the two of them. And sure enough, he saw the back of Sehun's head facing him from across the room. Another grin spread on Kai's face. He made another step towards the grand table at the end. He was greeted by the maître d'hôtel and he immediately gave his name. He was escorted to the table but he asked the staff to go just when he was standing behind Sehun.
He suddenly felt nervous. He knew Sehun has the most unbelievable mood swings, most especially when he's taken by surprise, so it was normal for him to have second thoughts. But then, he had planned this so well he knew it will never go wrong. He put on his best smile and walked past Sehun who was staring idly on his glass, apparently nervous as well, and sat opposite of him.
"Hi." Kai managed to say as his stare pierced Sehun's shocked ones and then they softened up.
"Hi." Sehun answered almost nervously.
They both knew how important this date is to them. They've been talking about their plans on how to celebrate this day for the past few weeks, but Kai just came up with his own idea and told Sehun he'd surprise him. Sehun reluctantly agreed, surprises aren't exactly his thing because it makes him so nervous just like how he's feeling at the moment. However, it's Kai. And he trusts Kai enough that it will be nothing but good.
Sehun looked at Kai's empty hands to the nicely wrapped box beside him.
"Hey, where's my-"
"Let's break up."
---There was a silent heartbeat.
The smile that was always only for Sehun wasn't there anymore. Kai's face was serious. He let the words echo inside his head. Why was he suddenly doubting his decision? He planned this so well. He rehearsed this line for a long time. He came up with lots of stuff to say, like the problem is not with Sehun, it's with him. That he didn't mean to fall into this, but he did. That he honestly loved Sehun but a whole year gave him lots of experiences that he finally realized what he had to do. In the end, he thought no excuse will make the situation better. Instead, he decided to go straight to the point. So much for the big surprise he had for him.
They stared at each other for a few moments. Not once blinking as if challenging each other to see who will admit defeat first.
The hard look on Kai's face vs the surprise that Sehun couldn't hide on his.
It was Sehun who lost. He looked away.
"W-what?" It was merely a whisper but he didn't intend to make it any louder.
"I don't like to repeat what I said." There was guilt in Kai's voice as he, too, lowered his gaze on the table.
"Kai, don't play with me." Sehun's voice was soft, almost begging. His tone was unsure, because he knew Kai never just plays with something like this. But he didn't want to believe that this is happening.
Kai glanced up at Sehun's lowered head, eyes hidden in those soft smooth bangs, feeling all the more sorry and guilty. He flashed him a worried look but Sehun wasn't looking at him.
"I'm sorry."
That was all he could say. He planned it, right? He memorized those lines. But he didn't know there was a huge difference between just practicing it and saying it now. There's a very huge difference.
Sehun grabbed the box beside him and gripped the sides almost too tightly. He gulped the thing that was stuck in his throat. How could he just end it on the day of their first anniversary? Weren't he just too happy the day before this? Weren't they just teasing each other about who's more excited for this day? Or was it all just in his head? Was he the only one happy? Was Kai serious when he said Sehun's the only one excited for their first year date? Tears brimmed in his eyes but he couldn't look at Kai. Not when he realized that all this time, he was just making a fool of himself thinking they're both too in love with each other. He was being a big fool to believe he can last longer than a year with him. He was a fool for holding onto Kai and not notice that he was gradually letting go.
He stopped a tear from falling by wiping it rashly away from his eye. Kai saw this gesture and was alarmed by the crying Sehun.
"Sehun." He stood from his seat and leaned on the table to hold his chin up so he could see his face. But Sehun moved away just in time before he, too, stood and backed away from the table.
"Sehun I-"
Sehun didn't wait for Kai's last words. He turned away quickly and walked towards the exit. He walked briskly out of the restaurant, his eyes blurred, and suddenly he willed his legs to go faster. He was running.
Kai was left standing alone at the end of the room. He counted in his head and sighed.
Any moment now... he thought.
When he looked out the glass wall, he saw Suho waving his hands frantically at him.
"What?" Kai mouthed. Suho was pointing to the left, then to the right.
"What now?" Kai repeated, this time walking towards the doors and he was now facing him.
"Sehun ran off." He was panicking... a little.
Kai looked towards the direction Suho was pointing at again. To the left of the restaurant.
"He's supposed to walk out to the right!" Suho pointed at the van situated around the corner at the right of the restau.
"What the-"
Kai was about to facepalm himself. He asked these guys to help him kidnap Sehun when he walks away from the 5-star restau after he drops his line which he practiced so hard it almost sounded real, but he realized he was wrong to expect too much from them. Now his plan to have a dramatic surprise for him is all ruined and he has to run after Sehun.
He looked to his right and saw him still running not quite far from where he was. Sehun was about to cross the street when the light turned green.
"I think we should just-"
"SEHUN!!!" Kai yelled and left Suho with his mouth hanging open, whatever he was saying was left unfinished. Kai was running so fast everything around him blurred. Everything and everyone but Sehun. He was running blindly towards the other side of the street.
Kai felt his fingers wrap around Sehun's wrist. And the next thing he knew, there was a piercing scream of a passerby on the side of the street, a loud honk of the coming bus, and a powerful crash that sent his whole body flying.
Flying.
Kai was flying and he waited til he lands with a loud thud on the ground. But it never came. The last scene in his head was nothing.
It was all pitch black.
And there was like a hurricane of memories rushing over in a second.

"Come on, are you in high school?" Chanyeol pushed Kai towards a closed door but Kai kept his feet on the ground, even if it meant Chanyeol was slightly dragging him with his weight.
"You idiot! It was your chance to confess yet you blew it up." Suho shoved your shoulder the opposite way Chanyeol was pushing Kai to.
"How could you tell him you don't see yourself with anyone in the future at all? You told him that after we all talked that you were going to confess to him! You told him that after he asked you whether there's anyone you like at the moment!!" Kyungsoo slapped his arm once, and then he kept hitting him until he finished what he was saying.
"I know. I know! I messed up okay! I didn't know what happened either. I got nervous and worried that he'd reject me! You know how he is when he's surprised, he just immediately gets pissed and then I'm afraid that will affect his decision." Kai defended himself as he pushed the three who were currently bullying him off of him.
"Idiot!" Suho pointed out.
"It's too obvious that Sehun knows you're going to confess. He's not blind, Kai. He isn't stupid either. Everyone noticed how you only cling to Sehun all the time. Even he would notice that. Please, what else did you think was he thinking when you told him to come watch the sunset with him?!" Chanyeol gave him another blow on the head, and he knew he was just using this excuse to finally get back at him. Kai have him a menacing glare. They were clearly enjoying this.
"All your dramatic plans, Kai, seriously. None of them goes well in the end. Why do you always try? Now all you should do is get in that room and tell him straight to the point!" Kyungsoo stole another chance to hit him and hid behind Suho when Kai turned to his direction.
Baekhyun watched his four idiotic friends push at each other while he leaned on the wall next to the door to Sehun's room. They've been friends ever since high school and he was so used to this scene, although before it was just Kai bullying everyone in the group, including Sehun. But now, to him, beating Kai up once in a while seemed like a good sight.
"Do you all realize that Sehun could clearly hear us from the inside?" He crossed his arms and sighed at his friends. They all stopped and looked at Baekhyun.
Kai stiffened and glanced at the door nervously. Sehun locked himself up the moment they came back to their apartment, the walk back home was already too silent and awkward. When everyone asked Kai what happened, he only gave them a stuttering "I think he's mad" and the yelling and bullying started at once. They made Kai sit and explain as if he was on the hot seat. Chanyeol then suddenly grabbed and dragged him towards outside Sehun's room and forced him to tell him what he failed to say back at the operation-confess-while-looking-at-the-sunset plan of the amazing Kai. Until then, Sehun didn't leave his room and remained locked inside. Now Kai is just too nervous staring at the piece of wood blocking him from his, he blushed thinking of it, first love.
"What am I supposed to say?" Kai said, not looking at anyone because he knew he was going to receive another set of glares.
"Tell him you were kidding and that I am planning to hang you on a tree later IF YOU STILL DON'T GET YOUR ASS INSIDE RIGHT NOW!!" Chanyeol yelled this time and Kai just gave him a cold stare.
"Look, I know I was an idiot when I said those things BUT YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO SHOUT AT ME!!!" Kai was fighting back now, the worried and puppy Kai from a few minutes ago long gone.
"Then what are you still doing here shouting back at me INSTEAD OF GETTING IN THAT ROOM AND KISSING SEHUN?!"
"YOU SHUT UP BECAUSE I'M JUST ABOUT TO. DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO BECAUSE I CAN TELL SEHUN MYSELF HOW MUCH I LIKE HIM!!!!!"
Suho smirked at that. Kyungsoo beamed as well. Chanyeol shut up and looked at Kai with overflowing malice as his eyes twinkled at the sides. Baekhyun just rolled his eyes.
"Now, now. That was easy. See, we still had to help you confess to him. That's kind of different from the usual Mighty King Kai we used to know." Kyungsoo snickered.
"Hope you heard that Sehun. We're just going to stay in our rooms and just give us a knock when you have a problem with this monkey." Chanyeol added as they started to leave.
Suho patted Kai's shoulder. Patches of red crept up his cheeks.
"Thank them later." Baekhyun smiled at his friend as he went to his own room.
Kai scoffed. "Do not disturb."
He threatened the air after he heard the last click of the door being shut, which was Baekhyun's.
"I like you."
Sehun stared at him.
Kai found him sitting on the other side of the bed, his back slouched lazily, facing him when he entered his room. He turned to him when Kai called his name, but he didn't look him in the eyes. The gloomy atmosphere still around.
"I like you." Kai repeated when he didn't receive a reaction from him.
Sehun pursed his lips. He heard everything from earlier. By now he knew Kai's true feelings. But he wasn't sure whether Kai was sure of it.
"Sehun. I like you." Kai stood just in front of the door, and he wasn't making a move unlike what he promised Chanyeol about kissing him.
"Kai-"
"I like you."
"But Kai-"
"I like you."
Sehun paused.
He opened his mouth to say something again when Kai cut him... again.
"I like you."
Sehun raised his eyebrow.
"I'm just kidding." Kai laughed a little. Sehun was taken by surprise at how his serious face turned into a smiling one almost instantly.
At those words, Sehun lowered his gaze and bit his lip glumly.
Kai suddenly noticed the change in atmosphere again.
"No, no. I mean, I was kidding but I'm not kidding about..." Kai seemed lost for words.
Sehun smiled. "I'm just kidding."
"Yah! Oh Sehun!" Kai walked towards the guy seated cross-legged on his bed.
"Can you say it again?" Sehun asked shyly, avoiding eye contact as his cheeks turned slightly pink.
Kai smiled. "I said-"
"I like you."
Kai's mouth remained open as he realized those words didn't come from him. He looked at Sehun who's staring straight at his eyes.
"I like you too, Kai."
A grin spread across Kai's face and he was smiling too willingly that he was starting to look creepy. He was never this smiley to anyone, just him.
"You know there's something I kinda promised Chanyeol and if it's oka-"
Sehun's lips brushed Kai's softly.
Their heartbeats echoed loudly against their chest and Kai was startled at Sehun's sudden action but he looked deeply into his eyes the moment he pulled away a second after.
"That's not what I promised Chanyeol." He smiled affectionately as Sehun started to look confused.
"It's this." His hand snaked around Sehun's waist and his other at the back of his neck. Their lips met in a pull, and Sehun's eyes automatically closed as Kai deepened the kiss passionately.

There was Sehun's smile in the dark before Kai blacked out.
An early warning. I'm not sure whether I can finish this since I'm battling with uni req's atm but I will try my best because I kinda miss sekai. T_T Also, this will officially suck if ever it ends. But I still want to test myself. Don't say I didn't warn you. And I apologize in advance.
