So many holidays in this place. And I've heard of another that is different as well. Primarily because the date on which it falls is not what I am used to. New Years... Mm.

I know. This place does have a lot of interesting Earth holidays, doesn’t it?
How did you find... 'Christmas'? Did you think it was as fun and exciting as the people from that world?

[Earth being 'that world' of course. ]

It was interesting enough. Though I probably would not call it 'fun' or 'exciting' when I lack the appreciation for it that they have.

Yes, that’s true. Even if I was given something of a crash course in Christmas… the nuances are still a bit of a mystery. Though it was a cute celebration.

I can only assume that it is a celebration we would appreciate more if it were a part of our cultures.

I'm sure there will be plenty of other holidays for us to encounter that will be difficult to appreciate.

At least ‘New Year’s’ appear some what similar. Most cultures celebrate some kind of ‘end of year’ festival.

Though it is not scheduled at the same time for all.

No it isn’t. The rotation of other world’s is different than the Earth’s…

Does your world celebrate this holiday? Maybe during spring?

I believe the time for the celebration in my world would take place almost a month or two later.

I see. This must seem oddly timed for you then, if you are used to celebrating it later.

Some celebrations are considered a requirement where I am from.

A requirement…? To celebrate something?

A requirement.

I understand the term of course… but why it would be a requirement to celebrate a holiday…

An obligation maybe.

[Some form of police state…? Fine, he‘ll ask then.]

Why would you be required to do something like that?

The emperor requires all who serve him to celebrate the New Year.
