Rose
Jaejoong sat on a hospital bed, staring out of his window into the lake that was situated right behind the building. It was crystal clear, and it reflected the sunlight, the reason why he liked being in that room, and looking out into the scenery. If he was a painter, he would have captured the moment into a picture.
“Mr. Kim,” a nurse called as she walked into the room, carrying a tray of food. “There’s a gift for you from a man named Jung Yunho. I’ve put it on the tray.”
“Thank you,” Jaejoong said as he let the nurse set the table for him, and place the tray on it before she excused herself and left his private ward. He looked at the food, and though they were appetizing, he didn’t feel the want to eat.
He wasn’t in the hospital because he wanted to, although he had to admit, he was still lucky to have survived. He still remembered that night, even if he didn’t want to.
It was late at night, and he had insisted that he went home through a shortcut. He had gone through the route many times before and he didn’t feel the need to be accompanied. Sadly, it was that that brought this accident about.
As he was walking home from the bar after the party, he was attacked by a rapist who almost killed him after taking advantage of him, but was found by his friend who suddenly had a bad feeling and went to go after him.
He was brought to the hospital immediately after, and his boyfriend was notified of the situation. It was a shame for him, knowing that he was no longer pure although they had promised to save it for each other until after they were married. He had proposed that they break up, but he hadn’t heard from his boyfriend yet.
Looking at the card beside the bowl of food, he knew who it was from. He took it slowly, almost hesitantly. Opening it, he read the message while holding onto the single stem of pink rose that came with it.
Jaejoong,
I know what is in your mind right now, but I don’t care. If I would break up with you just like that because of something like this, wouldn’t that mean it could happen in our married life? You were the one who said we were practically married. We would have vowed to never leave each other’s side until death do us apart, then. Apparently it hasn’t. So why are you pulling away from me?
I don’t care even if you get deformed. I am a man of words, and once I say I love you, I do. The question is, do you?
Tears welled at the corner of his eyes. He never thought about it that far yet, and he realized that by breaking up, he didn’t only hurt himself, but his boyfriend as well.
Pressing the bell, he asked for the nurse to return the rose to Yunho, and waited, playing with his food as he tried his best to eat. Moments later, the door was opened and Yunho walked inside, carrying the rose with him.
“So you received my message,” Jaejoong said, looking at the rose.
“Yeah,” Yunho said, sitting on the bed right beside Jaejoong. “And I’m very thankful for that. Thank you for your love.”
“I am too,” Jaejoong replied, and leaned in to kiss Yunho. “Same goes for you.”
Rose (pink): please believe me
Rose (single, full bloom): I still love you
Feelings Inside
In case you didn’t understand, Yunho’s rose meaning is the pink rose meaning, while Jae’s message is the single, full bloom rose :D
