I wouldn't call it lucky.

And why not? [Elaborate, sir.]

Why would you want to see your siblings suffer? That doesn't make any sense.

I don't think what usually happens around here is suffering very much.

Watching them be robbed of their free will and seeing them be forced to act like idiots [or, in Gilbert's case, bigger idiots] is no better.

.... I don't really understand what's wrong with that, it's not like it happens all the time either.

So what if it doesn't happen all the time? I wouldn't want to see my brothers go through anything I have even once.

Ah... And what is so bad about what you've gone through here? The number of times something important actually does happen doesn't really justify the hostility, I think.

There's nothing you can do about the things that happen here, no matter how powerful you are. If someone tried to kidnap my brothers back home, those assholes would be dead.

Does that mean you're going to give up anyway?

Hell no. [Even knowing what he knew, he'd always try. Always. He's too darn stubborn not to.] But if I can't stop them from being kidnapped and experimented on, I don't want them here. You're right, whatever happens when they return might not be so bad, but what if it is? These things wouldn't happen normally.

[And maybe that's his biggest problem with it. Their presence here is imply unnatural.]

… Experimentation is not common in your world? [While she had been listening, that was what struck her most out of everything he said.]

[...oh. Maybe that's why what happens here doesn't bother her so much.]

No. It still happens, but it's not common. [...] I only learned recently that it happened at all.

… Lucky you. But I still don't think that the experiments that happen here are that bad.

I won't say they're okay just because they're not so bad sometimes. It only takes one stupid experiment to hurt someone important to you and forget all about it!

[...not that he would know anything about that or anything.]

Well fine, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree! But would you really rather suffer alone than with someone else?
