musings: john's journal

Apr 18, 2014 01:41

I just found this part of John’s journal about how Bill Harvelle died in the depth of my (Tumblr) draft. I have this really bad habit of drafting posts before I actually do something with them, and it causes important posts to get lost. Anyway, I’m really confused right now because it messes up my headcanon timeline, which heavily based on Jo’s blog.

So which one is more canon? That John’s journal? Or Jo’s blog? If John’s journal is the right one then does it tell us what year the event in Devil’s Gate Reservoir happened? Because I’d like to know if we have a different date for when Jo was born.

To be honest, right now I still don’t know which one I prefer to be canon. I always liked Jo’s blog, how it gave us an insight on her view of hunting and her backstory. And then I read John’s journal. I really like how Bill was more experienced than John, how John learned about the Devil’s Trap from him. And then… and then my shipping side got in the way. I am so sorry. John’s journal mentioned something about leaving the boys at the Roadhouse, which means Dean and Jo have met before. Oh, I am too giddy for words about this.

If Jo was four when her dad died, it will be understandable that she didn’t remember the Winchesters. Dean and Sam probably forgot about things related to the Roadhouse with all that moving, and John never brought them back to that place, never talked about it either.

until one day they remember fuzzy memories about each other
