Gary Gygax dies on Grammar day!

Gary Gygax was one of the founders of TSR who made Dungeons and Dragons (DnD). This game was the foundation of all Role Playing Games (RPG). Not only did it create the genre of Pen and Paper RPG's; it laid the foundation in the minds of all the nerds and geeks who make RPGs on the computer and console today. RPG's are one of the biggest subcultures in the world.

There is alot of debate about RPG's. A lot of people love them and a lot of people hate them. The basic foundation for an RPG is this: You have rules to help guide people in telling and playing a story. Generally there is a Narrator person (Game Master (GM)) who has the skeleton of the story. Then the other people involved would play out their individual desires in the lives of characters they make.
The story can be slow, crawling, and granular, or speedy, high-powered, and fast paced. It is all up to the GM and the players.

I have seen many, many RPGs come out. I have played most of them. I loved each and every one for a while. I will give my view on the pros and cons for RPGs and gaming...

The biggest benefits from playing games and RPGs are the literature! All these games build a vast portfolio of language knowledge and mastery of its use. Also you can build a wealth of interest in different subjects that played out in the games. Also you would pick up complex math and logical thinking. There is also friendship building, creative thinking, creative outlet, and emotion management abilities that come from gaming as well.

The cons for playing games and RPG is actually part of a pro... Everyone who abhores it mentions its anti-social stigma. Also people mention how people get too carried away with it and act out their game fantasty in real life.

Not many cons from my end... Sorry. I just think that people who moderate their gaming activities will get the most enjoyment and benefit from them. I see people every day who game, then take what they did or learned from the game and immediately apply it to their life. Or discuss it and make good memories from the process.

Here are some gygax related links to help mark this occasion.
