A belated Happy New Year to everyone. I have received rather reluctant passes from both my physical therapist and my doctor to begin the tennis season in high school, granted that I play with my right hand exclusively. I doubt I will make the regulars, but playing tennis is more important to me than pride.
Seigaku (both high school and middle school): On the first day of class, during lunch period, we will hold our first meeting of the Gay Straight Alliance. I have sent a school wide email newsletter with the mission statement, and I hope that all of you can participate. It is important that we have attendance from all grade levels.
I do not screen this because I think that next weekend Seigaku should host a Tokyo-wide event, where the respective GSA groups can come together and create a list of safe houses, businesses, and goals that we wish to achieve (ways to keep bullying, prejudicial remarks and violence out of our schools, etc). Please let me know if you are interested in attending, or if you know a good place to advertise this event. If you could give the information to your respective schools and circles I would highly appreciate it.
I know how to try and help Fuji. I hope it works.

I also fear for the future of Seigaku. I originally began to think of this because of what Kikumaru told me about Kaidoh getting picked on for his sexuality. However, it does not end with him. There are others being bullied, but going out and beating up all of the bullies will solve nothing. Standing tall, and standing together, will change us, and change minds.
It is more than sexuality too. When I felt the taste of bullying in my freshman year, it cost me my arm. With the support of Yamato-buchou and Oishi, I was able to regain my determination and stay in the tennis club. If Seigaku can win nationals, we can certainly protect our own from the opinions of bigots. We can perpetuate a tradition that will protect our kohai for as long as they are willing to take the step to gain that protection, that strength.
